About this Cook
My husband and I have three children and we enjoy traveling, dining, and the outdoors.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are cookies and muffins, slow cooker recipes, and grilled meats and vegetables. I also enjoy making foods that make my family happy such as pancakes, gaucamole, and steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year I bake about 5 to 6 different kinds of cookies for the holidays. For holiday dinners, everyone brings a dish to share and I usually make roasted potatoes and brownies (and bring my cookies).
My cooking triumphs
Any time my husband, children or guests say it is delicious. Also, if I have the whole dinner ready at the same time I'd have to say that is a triumph because it doesn't happen as often as I'd like.
My cooking tragedies
About 11 years ago I attempted to make my first turkey for Christmas dinner. Although it thawed for about three/four days in my refrigerator it was still frozen when I started cooking it. It took about 10 hours to cook through. My guests had to wait over 5 hours to eat it.

Red Skinned Potato Salad
This was great! I cut the potatoes before boiling, and tossed them with the other ingredients while they were still warm. I did not use any hard boiled eggs, since I do not like them at all, and I halved the mayo. Even with half the mayo, it was plenty creamy. By using pre-chopped celery, and crumbled bacon from my grocery store's salad bar, I saved extra time as well!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs
This marinade makes the chicken so tasty and juicy! I haven't made kabobs, just cooked whole chicken breasts. Great on the grill in summer, and great in the broiler during winter!

Mrs. Fields Sugar Cookies
I haven't tasted a cookie yet, just pulled them from the oven, but, this was the easiest roll-out dough I have ever worked with. I separated my dough into thirds, wrapped in wax paper and refrigerated about three hours (while I made my other cookie doughs). I rolled each section on the wax paper, no additional flour needed! They kept their shape from wax paper to cookie sheet to cooling rack! I can't wait to frost them...and eat them of course!
