Dry Onion Soup Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
I was at my daughter's house keeping the grandchildren. She left instructions to make a roast with carrots and potatoes. I searched her pantry but couldn't find any Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Allrecipes to the rescue and, particularly, this recipe! The roast turned out great. I may never buy dry onion soup mix again when it can be made so easily!

Cornbread Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2013
I believe the amount of buttermilk in this recipe is entirely too much and should be 3/4 cup, a little less if you use skim milk soured with vinegar. I followed the recipe but ended up having to add more cornmeal. The process of cooking stovetop works though. So here is what I will do next time: Whisk together 1 cup self-rising cornmeal, 3/4 cup buttermilk, 1 egg. Pour 1/4 cup into a non-stick skillet and cook over medium low heat until browned; flip and brown the other side. If desired, butter bread at this point.

Easiest Ever Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2013
Using the Birds Eye Recipe Ready Chopped Green Peppers & Onions certainly makes cooking chili, or anything, quick and easy. I can recommend it. This recipe, however, is not for us. I prefer chili with more sauce and more flavor. I took the photo and then had to add ingredients to the chili for us to eat it.

Cabbage on the Grill

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2013
This is wonderful! I had never put garlic powder on my cabbage before and I love the flavor it adds. I must admit I didn't measure anything. I just sprinkled. I also cooked it over indirect heat for 45 minutes. A great low calorie side!

Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
I followed the recipe exactly except for pounding the meat. I just cut small 1 inch medallions and found this to work out just fine. This dish is pretty spicy hot yet so full of flavor I didn't mind the heat. I served it over rice.

Roasted Balsamic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
I especially like this because the balsamic is not an overpowering favor, as it can sometimes be. A very nice different take on cauliflower. Next time, I'd like to cut my cauliflower smaller and let it marinate for a little while.

Honey Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2013
I halved the sauce recipe for 2 chicken breasts. It was the perfect amount. Instead of using the amount of salt called for, I just salted my chicken breasts. I loved the flavor of the sauce on this chicken. At the end of the baking time, I added a little cornstarch to it to thicken it up. Perfect over rice or potatoes.

Kerry's Beany Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2013
Delicious salad! I subbed chickpeas for the kidney beans which I thought I had but didn't, and it turned out great! Next time, I will definitely cut the oil down by half. ***This salad makes a huge amount...surely more than 6 servings. The leftovers make a delicious lunche throughout the week.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2013
An easy sugar cookie that certainly lives up to its name. I used my heaping tablespoon scoop which made 26 cookies. I baked each pan of 12 for 14-15 minutes.

Restaurant Style Chicken Nachos

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
I marinated chicken in Easy Chicken Fajita Marinade, and then I grilled it for this recipe, which is fabulous! I omitted all the canola oil just to lower the calories and don't think it was missed at all. I did use a good quality chunky salsa, which I think is imperative. I will definitely fix this again.

Easy Chicken Fajita Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
I liked the flavor this gave to the chicken I cooked, although I felt it needed salt. I used it to marinate the chicken I grilled to use in Restaurant Style Chicken Nachos.

Twelve Minute Pasta Toss

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2013
Great MyPlate recipe! Full of flavor and so easy to throw together. I cut the recipe in half for the two of us but used only one very large chicken breast. I used just enough pasta for it to "look right." Perfect!

QUICK AND EASY LEMON LOAF

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
This is a delicious cake! It's light and not overly lemony but just enough to make me want another slice! I used the zest of 1/2 a lemon in the batter and put the other half in the topping. I think this would also be a great addition to my tea party menu. Thanks, manella!

Chef John's Poached Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
I love Chef John's videos...always informative AND entertaining! I poached my egg for 5 minutes and the yolk was a little too firm for me. But that's an easy solve. Next time I will cook for only 3-4 minutes. The demonstrated process works great.

Oven Roasted Greek Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2013
I really like the flavor in these potatoes. I did marinate them all day long and cooked them, covered, at 400 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Then I removed the foil and continued to cook them until they were done, about 15 more minutes.
