Jewish Grandma's Best Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2011
Wow, this was fantastic! I am very surprised by the flavor! I did change a few ingredients/directions. I used low sodium beef broth instead of water. This gave the brisket more flavor and tenderized the onions more as well. I also browned the brisket fully before adding the onions. Finally, I recommend fully submerging the brisket in the broth to in order to get a rich, delicious gravy for the meal.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
Very good. The 6 serving recipe is enough for 2 dishes. I didn't have time to heat up the cheese in the mushrooms, spinach, and onions. The dish still turned out great!

Country Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
Wonderful recipe. I made the dish for a dinner party and it was a huge hit. We keep the dish in the oven for 45 minutes. The recipe for 6 servings doesn't fill a traditional pie fully. We put in 1 more egg and a splash of milk to help even out the top.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
The best soup I ever made!!! I made this soup for 14 people! We used two large deep oven pans on the stove. We divided the recipe into each. Beacuse of the large amount of onions needing to be carmleized, this worked out beautifully! We had to wait about 45 minutes for carmelization. We used more low sodium beef broth and less chicken broth. We used a dry, full bodied Merlot for the wine. It turned out so well!! We keep the heat up on the pans a little long. The soup reduced a lot. We poured in more beef broth, Worcestershire, and Merlot to allow for more broth. We also had it on the stove for 3 hours before we served it! We toasted the baguettes in the oven and used only caved aged Gruyere Cheese. This was a hit! I will defiantly try this recipe again! Next time we are going to allow the soup to simmer for a couple hours so the reduction is less pronounced.

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
This recipe is amazing. We usually go to a local Mexican restaurant to eat the carne asada. Now, we don’t have to! We buy a skirt steak and cut the pieces very thin. We then allow the steak to marinade for an hour or so. It really doesn’t matter how long you marinade the steak for, 30 minutes or 24 hours doesn’t make a difference. This recipe is that good! We grill the steak for a few minutes and have the perfect meal! We’ve made for countless friends that agree! This is better than any restaurant! Ole’

Exceptional recipe. The flavors that marinade in the chicken are wonderful. It’s best served after grilling the chicken. This recipe will work with steak as well!

Naan

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Fun to make. The Naan surprisingly didn't take too long to rise. We had the day to cook, and is perfect for a rainy day. We cooked the Naan on the stove. It worked out perfectly! Yum!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
This dish is wonderful. It's very savory! I needed something soothing after a long day at work, and this recipe didn't fail me. I went with a chuck roast, beef broth instead of water, and I added vegetables for flare. I put the timer on for 8 hours and I couldn't believe how tender the meat was.

Double-Crust Potato Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Excellent recipe. I did modify it a little for my own tastes. I decided to add broccoli and a cheese layering between the potato layers. Finally I added a layer of cheese on top instead of the pie crust. It was wonderful! The cheese I used was the Mexican combo and added the right amount of flavors to the dish.

Spanish Rice II

Great recipe. Instead of water, I used chicken broth to simmer the rice in. I think it's more authentic and delicious.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Good recipe. I enjoyed all the flavors, but felt it was a little grainy. I think we'll use less powder and a bit more yogurt.
