Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2012
Very Easy! Fry up the rest of the batter by dropping 1/8 cup blobs into the oil. Dip them in mustard or ketchup. Yum!

Dumplings

Perfect! Don't add too much milk though, (like I did the first time) because even though the dough is easier to work with, it falls apart too much in the soup/broth/stew.. Stick to what it says. Yum!

Baked Potato Skins

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
I microwaved the potatoes instead of baking them (i.e. to make baked potatoes for use in the recipe) and it worked fine. Maybe not quite as crisp as possible, but everyone loved them.

I like adding another tsp of sugar; it makes them a little more pastry-ish. yum!

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
its good without the salt too. I use pressed garlic and a little chopped onion. Ommitting the celery salt and plain salt as well still leaves a fantastic dressing mix. Let it blend over night!

Mexican Cream Cheese Rollups

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
Pretty tasty but I had to add a few things to get the flavor right. I think the brand of olives you use is pretty important.

Dill Dip III

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
Too salty by far to me, but everyone else liked it. The second time, I ommitted the seasoning salt entirely and it tasted pretty good. Maybe just a dash would be best.

Jalapeno Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This is a great starter recipe! I just gave it a whirl with some miscellaneous peppers from the garden and it worked great. I'm going to try some variations on it next time.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
Wow, so easy, so good. I just made this for the first time and won an appetizer competition with it! And I'm a cooking-beginner so that's saying something for the recipe. Ok details: Used half sour cream for mayo, made the topping with a thin layer of shredded cheddar, then parmesan, then bread crumbs. Used the oven method and it came out great. I didn't double the jalepenos like others suggest because i wanted to appeal to as many folks at the competition as I could, but for my own tastes, thought it could have used more. I'll try spicing it up next time too. Great dip!

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This is really tasty chowder. I changed a few things to lower the sodium content(i'm fairly restricted): used frozen sweet corn instead of creamed corn, didn't add the salt and used a bit more dill. Turned out great! (though, i'd add the salt if i was allowed)

Sizzling Sherry Shrimp with Garlic

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This was pretty good and very easy, but it just needed... something. I served it over basmati rice. I might try it as a marinade (or with sherry instead of lemon juice) next time.

Mushroom Soup Without Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Holy Mushrooms Batman! This recipe is fabulous! I had to change it up just a little since I'm on a fairly strict sodium restriction: I used ~half low-sodium vegetable stock and ~half low-sodium chicken stock, didn't add salt at the end (just made sure the salt shaker was out for my wife) and used 3 cloves of garlic in the beginning. So tasty. I'm going to try it with Shitake mushrooms in the mix next.
