I am 29 years old ,happily married to a "young" Kurt Russell look-alike & have 3 children- Rebecca(8), Ethan(5) & Zane(2). We all looooove to eat and my hubby and i are both Chocoholics!!! I love cooking and am constantly searching for new and inventive recipes to tryout on family and friends. We love BBQing ,especially during SEC football season. Im a diehard Auburn fan and hubs is an avid Tennessee fan. We enjoy outdoor activities with the kids such as sports and love long weekends at the beach.
My favorite things to cook
My life is so busy that I usually strive for quick but tasty options but occassionally I can squeeze in a gourmet meal or two. I particularly love baking desserts.....anything sweet is always a hit around the house and is gone early the next day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas is the most celebrated around our house- I make several holiday treats...chocolate chip cookies, bourbon balls, chocolate dipped coconut balls, peanutbutter balls, red velvet cheesecake and an assortment of dips and fingersandwiches...and these are just the snakes between the "traditional" lunch and dinner!
My cooking triumphs
Being a girl from the South, we MUST know how to cook before we are married in order to nab a suitable husband. (HAHA) - So my bigggest triumph was learning how to cook a good southern meal- fried chicken, mashed potaoes with REAL homemade gravy, slow cooked greenbeans, fried green tomatoes, real mac-n-cheese & homemade biscuits.. for dessert, peach cobbler..this is just one of MANY dishes we southern girls have to perfect.
My cooking tragedies
First time I tried to make gumbo!!! I was 20, newly married and OVERLY confident of my cooking skills. I had invited my parents over to dine with us before hand and needless to say , i wish i hadnt! We decided to go out for a bite instead. I now have a great gumbo recipe that we can all enjoy. Everytime i make it i think back & chuckle. Im just glad i invited MY parents instead of HIS!
