I'm always interested in new recipes and trying new things whether I have a recipe or not. I want to keep learning so that I can keep improving.
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta dishes and seafood as well. I love a good steak. I like cooking with veggies too and I add them to most recipes when I feel they will go with the flavor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is Armenian so I am interested in learning some traditional recipes that my grandmother used to make but I haven't worked toward that much. I think I'm afraid it won't come out right and I'll become discouraged. Of all the things she made in the past Cheese Boreg is one of my all time favorites but I also love Dolma, pilaf, Lamb stew, Baklava, Shish Kebab, Lamajune (armenian pizza) and much much more.
My cooking triumphs
I borrowed my mothers recipe for Shrimp Thermadore and have pretty much mastered that. I know how to make a good steak (rare, is how I prefer it but whatever). There are a few things my friends and family know me for as far as food goes but I am still trying to find my own niche.
My cooking tragedies
I have ruined some perfectly good steaks in my day, and the first time made shrimp thermadore for my boyfriend I forgot to check the oven and almost set my sisters house on fire after I melted a few plastic utensils that had been left in the oven in pans. The house smelled like fumes and I had to finish it on the stove top because I didn't want the sauce to absorb the awful smell that was coming from the oven. It turned out o.k., but it was pretty embarrassing.
