I am fifty-something mother of 2 grown children and 1 teenager. Been married over 26 years. Still work full-time so not as much time for cooking as I would like, but sometimes will devote a whole weekend to it.
My cooking triumphs
After years of hearing how good my mother-in-law's pies were, I finally went to the library and took out every book I could find on pie making. I kept making pies until I hit the button. I never hear about anyone else's pies anymore!
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to mention. Before I got married, my husband asked me if I could cook. Never cooked before, but said I could. You should ask him about the tragedy of this statement. He has lots of stories.

Cornbread Salad I
This salad ROCKS. I used kidney instead of pinto but otherwise changed nothing. I layered it in a huge glass bowl and it looked amazing! It is unique in flavor, unlike anything I have ever had before. I will definitely make this again and again. Thanks for an awesome recipe!

Pineapple Bread Souffle
This turned out great. I made it exactly as written except used an 8x8 pan. I did not think it was too buttery or too sweet. It is just perfect. You could definitely use this as a side dish or a dessert. It was done in exactly 45 min. I will definitely make this again.

Butter Beef
I usually don't rate a recipe unless I've made it as written. However, most of the people who rated this recipe as good or bad changed it in some way. As others suggested, I did brown meat first with some garlic, then sauted some mushrooms and onions and deglazed with some red wine. Used the 1/2 cup of butter and envelope of soup mix. In the end, all I could taste was the butter. The meat was very tender even after only 6 hours on low, but this didn't improve the taste. The flavor was very bland, which is surprising with the soup mix. Some reviewers stated too salty, but I didn't even notice any flavor except butter. I won't be making this again or even trying to improve upon it.
