About this Cook
I love to eat my own cooking more than I actually love to cook. My mother taught me how to cook and was a foodie. I have 2 grown children and now 2 grandchildren. Oh my gosh its great to be a grandma!
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food, quick things, things that are tasty yet simple. In the winter I love to make homemade soups and stews. I really enjoy baking breads and cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Seafood for dinner on Christmas Eve. Christmas cookie favorites we make every year are Ginger Cookies with Anise Frosting, and Chocolate Rum Balls.
My cooking triumphs
My fried chicken; my own recipe for mulligatawny.
My cooking tragedies
Wow, where to begin.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars
This is a wonderful recipe. I was at the end of a tight pay period and needed something I could whip up with what I had on hand. So I substituted 1/4 c coconut oil + 1/4 c of peanut oil for the butter (because I am out). And used 1/3 c sugar (running low). Used strawberry preserves instead of raspberry. I didn't have quick oats, so I substituted steel cut oats. I toasted them in a pan over medium high heat for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Because of the reduced sugar I increased the flour about 1/4 cup. It all turned out fabulous- nutty and and chewy. I'm sure if you had all the correct ingredients they would be even better!

Puffy Chocolaty Chip Cookies
These are the best darned cookies- my husband cannot stop eating them. I make just 1 change, use 2 tsps of vanilla instead of one. They are even richer.
