About this Cook
College grad, homeowner, working in education...
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE anything that involves pasta, using my slow cooker, and making hearty soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
~~none yet~~
My cooking triumphs
Some of my best dishes have been 'thrown' together experiments... But my top two are my roasted chickens (seasonings vary) and my homemade fried rice- DELISH!
My cooking tragedies
When I was a newbie to the slow cooker, I wanted to make a good jumbalaya in it... Not really having a recipe or knowing the rules of the slow cooker, I threw some rice, water, whole cans of beans and tomatoes and seasoning and let the bad boy go.... I had a mushy mess of rice and beans that smelled FABULOUS but was extremely difficult to stomach... Still haven't tried it again... :-)

The Amazing Swedish Meatball
I'm not going to lie - the sauce wasn't that great. I needed a sauce mix because I messed up my McCormic packet (accidentally cut it wrong and put everything in the meatball mixture- that I actually really do recommend by the way, lol). Anyway, I used maybe a pinch of salt because there was no WAY I was going to put that much into it.. The flavor came close but it was missing something, and unfortunately I'm not sure what. The consistency, etc was all great, it was just very mild. I'm going to try it again with some of the previous suggestions.

Vanilla Crepes
I loved this dish! My batter came out a little thick - but it was still quick and easy. I made a fabulous desert of it with warmed caramel for ice cream, some whipped cream, and powdered sugar. YUM! The next day I threw in some frozen fruit (defrost and drained first) and made pancakes out of it. Also a crowd pleaser! Thanks for sharing!
