Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2012
Fantastic! I used about 1 1/2 lbs of boneless breast tenders and used my 2 quart slow cooker on high setting and the chicken was done and ready to be shredded in about 3 1/2 hours. I added chopped green pepper and onions just because I needed to use them up. The remaining sauce was a bit watery so I added a heaping tablespoon of flour and it rethickened nicely. Will definately be making this one again!

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
I've made this recipe twice now and both times have come out delish! The first time I tried to make one 5 x 9 loaf, but no matter how lo and ng I kept it in the oven, the center wouldn't cook - my oven's fault and not the recipe's. The second time I made as muffins and they came out absolutely wonderful with no issues cooking. My only changes were I exchanged about a 1/2 cup of brown sugar for white sugar and added the cinnamon and nuts directly to the batter. Definately use this recipe often!

Touchdown Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
Soooo good! This was my first time making chili and this recipe seemed easy which is why I chose it. Plus, I hate the beans normally found in chili. I ventured from the original recipe only slightly: added about a cup of diced green pepper (because I wanted to use it up before it went bad) and added one big can of Bush's Baked Beans and omitted the brown sugar because it is already in the baked beans. Because I wanted to put this in my slow cooker, I took the suggestion of another reviewer and used tomato paste instead of the tomato sauce. I browned the meat together with the onion, green pepper and garlic, drained then added to my slow cooker with all the other ingredients. Its been simmering now for about 2 hours and it already smells and tastes delishicious! I will serve with oyster crackers, shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream as well as some corn bread. I'm not sure we are going to have the will power to wait 5 more hours for dinner!

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
Great recipe! Used mixed veggies, left out the almonds (only because I didn't have any on hand) and used half and half. Brown my chicken in a skillet with some EVOO, shredded it then threw everything into my slow cooker for a few hours and it came out great! This is a definate keeper!

Beer Batter Waffles

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
Did not like these at all. The batter was easy to make, but was very thin and needed to use almost 1 1/2 cups of batter in my waffle iron (busquick batter only uses 1/4 cup). I used Labatt Blue Light beer and the waffles came out very bitter and tasteless despite adding an additional tablespoon of honey to the batter. I could not get the waffles to crisp at all. I had higher hopes for this recipe, but sadly I will not make these again.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
So easy and so tasty! I used white confetti cake mix and white confetti frosting. Since I have no clue what confectioners coating is nor where to even begin to look for almond bark in the grocery store, I melted two cups of white chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of shortening in the microwave and coated the balls. I found it helpful to chill the balls slighlty in the fridge before dipping in the chocolate because they were a bit more firm and easier to handle. I will be making these over and over again, I'm sure!

Pineapple Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
Flavor was delicious despite mine looking very ugly. First, my jello did not even come close to setting after 45 minutes. I ended up putting it in the freezer for almost an hour just to get it to set somewhat. When making the cream cheese/cool whip topping, I relized I didn't buy enough cool whip (need the big container not the smaller one) and thus my mixture was very thick and very difficult to spread. I spread it the best I could but ended with huge globs of it in my pan. Fortunately the top glaze covered everything so you couldn't see the ugliness underneath. I too had difficulty getting the glaze to thicken even after adding more flour, then again I never know what exactly constitutes as "thick". I spread what I had over the top and refridgerated over night. It was more gooey than in probably should have been and if I had actually tried to cut it into squares in the pan, it would have been a huge mess on the plate, so we just ate it directly from the pan. The flavor was delicious and I will definately make again but play around with the recipe to get it to turn out right and be sure to use the correct amount of cool whip!

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
This recipe produces the best deviled eggs I've ever had. I've made them a few times now and each time I want to eat them all before I even have a chance to serve any of them. I've even started using this recipe to create and egg salad that I could litterally sit and eat an entire bowl full with a spoon!

Buttermilk Parmesan Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
I'm giving 5 stars even though mine didn't come out as they should. My potatoes must have been too new because they would not soften for me no matter how much I baked them. Despite crunchy and somewhat raw potatoes, I could tell if the potatoes had cooked right, they would have tasted amazing. I will definately make again but this time boil my potatoes first get them 'a cookin'.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
I've never eaten chicken fried steak before but my BF requested it, so I used this recipe. Since I had no other experience to compare it to, I can't review the taste, but my BF said it tasted great. It was fairly easy to prepare and I liked this recipe because it didn't call for any odd ingredients that I had to buy special (except for buttermilk). I used a packaged white country gravy instead of making my own. Since my BF liked this so much, I will definately be using this recipe again.

Alfredo Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Yum! Very easy to make - if only I had better skills at scooping out the guts of the cook potatoes, but my lack of ability does not negate the yummyness of these! Like others, I popped mine in the oven for a few minutes instead of remicrowaving for the second time, but otherwise followed the recipie. Will definately make again!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
Yum! I only used 2 cups of sugar, only because its all I had, but they still came out delish! As with other's suggestions, I lined my pan with wax paper and used a pizza cutter to cut the bars before the chocolate was completely set (about 15 min. in the fridge). I refridgerated overnight and breaking apart the precut bars was a sinch and very simple to peel off the wax paper. The only addition I made to the recipie was I put down a small layer of chocolate on the bottom before layering the peanutbutter mixture (just for fun) - but even if I didn't do this, this recipe as is....amazing and definately a keeper!

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Deeeelish! I made this casserole for dinner and the BF loved it! The only addition I made was I sauteed some green pepper with the onion, but other wise made according to the instructions. So simple! Reheats well in the microwave for a quick breakfast in the morning. I don't see this recipie serving 12 however...I say more like 4-6.
