Sweet Tamarind Chutney

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
We did not care for this recipe. It was way too sweet and way too spicy. It did not thicken. The worst was the flavor though...not at all authentic to any Indian foods and flavors we have eaten. All we could taste was sugar and cayenne.

Pumpkin Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
The only change to the recipe I made was to omit lemon extract. I didn't have it. I thought the taste and consistency of the cheesecake was great. The crust just didn't match up to me though. I think I would try something different if doing it again. I cooked it the recommended 50 minutes--no problems setting up the wiggly center, but the crust was overdone in that amount of time. Guests loved it, but I did think it was lacking a bit. Served drizzled with some dulce de leche sauce. Nice addition.

Chocolate Chip Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This was great. I made mini-pies in muffin cups rather than one large pie. My 9-inch pie crust recipe and the filling made 10 muffin sized servings. This really helped cut down on the 1 hour baking time. I'll make this again for sure!

Marrakesh Vegetable Curry

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
This curry was very good. I give it a 4 only because per reviewer suggestions, I doubled the amounts of curry and turmeric. I can not imagine having less spice than that to keep it good and flavorful. Just because of personal vegetable preferences, I did not put in spinach and subbed potato for sweet potato. Next time I will cut cayenne to 1/4 tsp because it was too spicy for our kids even with just 1/2. May add a bay leaf and cloves as well...

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
This is good bread--moist, etc. Lacks just a bit in the spice area though. Don't know how to make it better. I used fresh pumpkin puree rather than canned. I greased and floured pan and muffin cups, but still had trouble with it sticking. Certainly not pretty when it came out. Guess I'm still looking for the perfect recipe though...

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
We think this recipe is great! I don't make any changes...I do however press my own garlic--probably ends up being 1-2 heads of it but cooks down into the sauce nicely. We serve it doused with plenty of the au jus!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
I have made this recipe several times now and we enjoy it each time. I use yak meat because cow meat is not readily available where I live. All the spices really overcome the more "game" flavor and smell of the yak. I usually half the meat and spices and add a whole pack of dressing mix like other reviews suggested. We still get about 10 hamburger bun sized sandwiches out of that! Top with a little cheese and some sauteed onions...Great!

Honey Garlic BBQ Sauce II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
We were not at all impressed with this BBQ sauce. It sounded like it should be flavorful--it wasn't. I followed the recipe, but still, it didn't have kick or much of anything to make me want to make it again. The cornstarch also gave it a funky texture. I will not make this again.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
I made this sauce exactly per the recipe. It was okay. Needed a little something, but not sure what exactly. I did add stir-fried chicken and bean sprouts to make this a complete meal in an of itself. We'll make it again.

Greek Chicken Wrap

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
These wraps were pretty good. We tasted the sour cream sauce before spreading on the tortillas and just garlic and onion powder was not enough spices for us. I added Cavender's Greek seasoning and a little cheyenne pepper.
