Mincemeat Pie Filling

Two nights ago I cooked all the ingredients as is except I substitued molasses for the sorghum (& I only had 1/4 cup) until thick & refrigerated. I then divided up into two pie shells last night, used a crumb topping & baked (I only had deep dish shells, all the filling could have fit in one shell)following another recipe: 15 mins at 425 degrees and then 20 mins at 350. As I was making this for a co-worker, I felt I needed to try it. So hubby & I cut into one of the pies(we had never had mincemeat pie before) - it was o.k. but we weren't sure :(! My co-worker said the meat was a little chewy but otherwise it tasted like "grandma's". (Course he may just being nice?!)

Chinese Restaurant Style Hot Mustard

just learned this from my Mom-in-law earlier this week but I couldn't get her to find the ratio between water & mustard. I left the pepper out & was still very pleased.

Vanilla-Maple Apple Pie Filling

I was in a hurry & didn't take the time to read the reviews until after I made this. I had doubled the recipe and used brown sugar instead of white. I put most of it in the freezer, but left one to make up in an apple crisp the next day. I didn't find anything wrong with this recipe and my husband loved the apple crisp. I greased a 9x9 pan, put my filling in and topped with a mixture of 1 cup flour, 1 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup margarine, baked at 350 for about 25 minutes. It was delicious. Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, my bunch loved it!

Apple Snack Squares

I was surprised after I fixed this at how good it was. I didn't include the nuts, cut the oil & used unsweetened applesauce-1 cup. I substituted brown sugar for the white & cut that as others as suggested to 1 1/2 cups - still sweet enough. It went over wonderfully in our home & will surely make it again.

Dilly Beef Sandwiches

I got this same recipe about 8 to 10 years ago & my bunch just LOVES it. My oldest requested it for his graduation party. My boys eat the hot pickles when I remove them. This is SO easy & I've not found anyone that doesn't like it.

Frosted Cinnamon Zucchini Bars

Not sure what happened with Baricat's bars, I even left my zucchini to drain & the bars still came out moist. I added more spices: nutmeg, ginger & cloves along with cinnamon in the bars themselves & like the taste.
