Lemon and Herbs Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
I used regular white rice but other than that I followed the recipe to a tee. It was colorful and flavorful. A great side to my salsa chicken! Thanks for the recipe!

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2015
This was so easy! I used 6 chicken thighs with the skin on in a crock pot and sprinkled 1/2 pkg of the taco seasoning over added a 16 oz jar of salsa and 1/2 c water and let it cook 6 hrs on low. It fell off the bone and had great flavor. Added Mexican shredded cheese 5 minutes before serving.I didn't use the sour cream, but I'm sure that would have been a great topper. Served with Best Spanish rice and Mexican corn from this site.

Farfalle Pasta with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2015
I decided to try this because I had all the ingredients and it looked simple and quick to prepare on a week night. I am so glad I did! It was a great side dish for my grilled chicken breasts. Next time I will add some grape tomatoes and fresh broccoli florets..maybe even green pepper strips.

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2014
I have used this recipe many times. It never fails to disappoint the men in my house. I have found that using 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper adds a nice zing. I also began using 1/2 & 1/2 to make it richer, but milk works fine too.

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2014
Ok, ok, I changed it but I read the reviews and I combined what all the reviewers said. I added 2 Tbsp minced garlic and 1/2 chopped onion to the oil and sauteed with the chicken breast. Then I added the rest of the ingredients (but used 4 C cooked rice because I can't seem to make less than that)including the mushrooms and sour cream, along with 1/2 tsp dried cilantro, and 1 tsp cumin powder, a can of Progresso black bean soup (which I thought was a can of black beans until I pulled the top off) and a can of drained corn. I spooned it into a casserole and topped with the shredded cheese and baked until warmed through 15-20 minutes. I have to say it was really good! I have no idea what the first version tastes like so don't listen to me when you try this. I thought I would give you a little insight on what I did. Maybe you try it plain or with the additions, either way I'm sure it would be good. Let me know what you did!

I add anything I have from the garden to this and it only enhances. I add 1/4 C red wine and beef base for richer flavor.

Slow Cooker Beef Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2014
You can follow the original recipe and get a soup that is O.K. and easy. I would 1/2 the amount of tomatoes as they tend to take over the taste. This is how I make my crock pot soup but I have to add chopped onion, celery and minced garlic along with a heaping tbsp of beef base, in place of the onion soup mix. If you have the time use fresh cut vegetables for supreme flavor and nutrition; Also 1/4C red wine which gives it some zing. I would also throw in 2C of large shell macaroni a half hour before serving.

Japanese Zucchini and Onions

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2014
I followed the instructions exactly. My helper said it tastes like "nothing". Not sure what I did wrong but there was very little flavor. After trying to eat it as is, I added some crushed red pepper and granulated garlic. I had some liquid in the pan, so I added 1 tbsp corn starch mixed with a tiny bit of water. Much improved with 1/4 c Parmesan Cheese sprinkled on top.

Refreshing Korean Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2014
It didn't say to rinse the salt off the cucumbers. I didn't and I think it turned out very salty. I followed the directions to a tee except for that step. I believe it would have been much better had I rinsed the cucumbers before pressing them in paper towels. Will try again. I toasted the sesame seeds for 1-1/2 minutes on high in the microwave, flipping them every 15 seconds. Worked great!

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2014
My first time trying this! I read all the reviews and used cold cooked rice, added chopped garlic and green onion with a bag of frozen peas & carrots to the hot oil in the wok. Added the rice and drizzled the soy sauce over as I stirred.Made a well and scrambled the eggs in the middle of the wok. I added some cooked chopped rotisserie chicken and a small amount 1/2 C of chicken broth to keep it from getting too dry. It was great and even better the next day warmed up! I'm going to try with shrimp next.I also added 1/4 C oyster sauce as one reviewer mentioned. Additional note: As I have made this many more times, I have found that adding chopped red pepper, onion and mushrooms to the saute step is fabulous!

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2014
really easy and hubby loved it. I used green onion and no additional salt as the bacon and swiss cheese are salty enough. Put it all in the microwave with turntable and cooked for 10 min and let set in there, after cooking, for 5 more to finish. Kept the kitchen cool and it still came out great! You could add cooked chopped broccoli or spinach as some have said and change the meat to whatever.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

I read all the comments and the only thing I did differently was to double the paste and water! I loved this and I've been looking for a homemade sauce for a long time. I omitted the anchovy paste because I didn't have any. I will try again and use it.
