Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2013
I thought this was a pretty good recipe. It may have been a little bland, but to be honest, I have never had a tuna casserole that wasn't a little bland. lol I did add a little garlic powder and parsley and I used sharp cheddar, because that was what I had on hand. Next time, I will work on my seasonings to give it a little more flavor. All in all though, I liked it and will make it again. Thanks JAICARD!

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2012
This was my first time making apple butter and this recipe was delicious!! I used one cup brown sugar and 3 cups white. I thought it was perfectly sweetened. I upped the spices slightly. I used 2 heaping teaspoons cinnamon and a heaping 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. I like it spicy. I filled my 6 qt. Crock Pot to the brim with the peeled, sliced apples and then added the sugar and spices. After it cooked down a little I stirred it. Went to bed and in the morning took the lid off to cook down and stirred with a whisk. I wanted it a little chunky. I let it cook down about 4 hours then canned it in half pint jars. I filled each to within 1/4 inch from the top and processed for 10 minutes in a water bath. We loved it and will be making this every year!!

Margaret's Southern Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
Fantastic recipe!! My family raved about it. I, however, am the only one in my family that likes meringue so I used Dream Whip on top. It is very rich and creamy and I will never use another recipe again. Thanks Becky!!

Root Beer Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
Wonderful! We really liked this recipe. Due to the temp being 19 degrees out, I cooked these on a cast iron griddle on my stove top. Can't wait to try it on a charcoal grill. We thought the chops were very good if just a little bland. We like spicy. Next time I will add more of the hot sauce for a bit more kick. Overall, we thought it was a great recipe. Thanks Ken from CA!

Mammaw's Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
This is my new go to waffle recipe! We loved it. I followed the recipe exactly and it was great. Next time, I might add a little cinnamon and vanilla, but other than that it is perfect! Thanks for a great recipe!

Blueberry Snow

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
I made this into a trifle so it would look pretty in my trifle dish. I think next time I will add less milk with the cream cheese. It turned out rather soupy. I should have listened to other reviews. I added layers of lemon pudding to it as well, and thought it turned out very nice. My DH loved it. With my change you can eat the yellow snow. Thanks FRULLA!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
This is a great base recipe. Based on that fact I give it 5 stars. I am not rating it on the changes I made. I don't like when a recipe is changed and then rated. The changes I made to it however, are the following. I used 4 chicken breasts as called for. Then I used 1 can cream of chicken and 1 can of cream of celery. I used a whole can of chicken broth. I added garlic salt, dried minced onion (it is easier to hide from my kids) pepper, about 2 tbsp parsley and a dash of poultry seasoning. I also used the rolled dumpling recipe from this site. It turned out fabulous. My husband likes veggies in his so after taking some out for the kids I added a couple handfulls of frozen mixed veggies about 30 minutes before serving. Thank you Janiece for a great starter!!

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
I thought this was very good. It turned out a little gooier than I expected. Not as firm as other cheesecakes I have made. However, the flavor was wonderful. I didn't have good luck with the crust. Next time I will add more cookie crumbs. I had butter leaking out the bottom of the pan all over the oven. Other than that complaint, I will probably make this again, just changing the crust.

I started using this recipe when it first came out in Taste of Home magazine. It is the best Italian Beef recipe I have ever found. Thanks for adding it here so I can easily add it to my meal plan.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
We were disappointed with this recipe. I added the whole spice packet, and changed the liquid a little. I used 3 cups of water and one whole beer. So not much changed, but we thought it had very little flavor. Really bland is what dh said. Oh well, thanks anyway, but I won't be making this one again.

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
These pancakes are the best pancake recipe ever!! I recently tripled the recipe for my family of four and every pancake was eaten! The first time I made them I followed the recipe as written and they were fantastic. The next time I added vanilla and they were still fantastic. Thanks for the only pancake recipe I will be making ever again.

Horseshoes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
This is nothing like the horseshoe sandwich we have. I live about 3 hours from Springfield, right on the Wabash river (IL side). Ours has bread on bottom, with a hamburger patty, fries, and cheddar cheese sauce poured over the top. It is not the exact original Horseshoe sandwich, but there should not be bread on the top, b/c it is meant to be an open faced sandwich.

Super Easy Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
I thought this was very good. Very easy like it says. I used 2 lbs. ground beef and kept the sauce amount the same. Did use the mustard and a dash or two of Worcester sauce. Next time though I will double the sauce amount, it certainly would not have been enough for 3 lbs. It is a keeper though.

Tilapia Scampi

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
Wonderful recipe!! I followed the recipe except the cook temp and time. I baked it at 350* for about 20 minutes. I did turn it over once. My picky kids loved it. The 6 year old even said he wanted it every week. I served it with white rice and corn on the cob. This one is definitely going in my recipe box to make again and again.

Mom's Coleslaw

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
This was fabulous! I made this for a fish fry we were having and everyone loved it. I even had to send leftovers home with people. The only thing I did different was double the recipe and add about a teaspoon of celery seed. Thank for a great recipe!
