Ever since I was little I loved to bake. Cookies and cakes especially. As I got into my teen years I began watching the food network out of curiosity and really got hooked. I began trying the dishes and cooking for me and my parents about once a week. My mom usually loves the break. My favorite cook is Ina Garten (aka The Barefoot Contessa Show). She gives incredibly classy and delicious recipes that look fancy and are usually easy and fun to do. I also love Rachel Ray, Paula Deen, and Giada De Laurentiis.
My favorite things to cook
Rachel Ray's pretzel-crusted chicken!!! Lol. I love this dish and make it frequently.
Ina Garten's Scallops Provencal.
Paula Deen's Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake.
Taco Soup (my own recipe).
My favorite family cooking traditions
(1. I love sautéing anything. Onions, peppers, vegetables, whatever. In my book a good dish almost always involves something sautéed. (2. Whenever I bake I use pure vanilla extract. In EVERY dessert. It's not dessert without vanilla.
My cooking triumphs
My taco soup and Lemon Loaf cake are two recipes that I'm particularly proud of.
My cooking tragedies
I was making scones for the first time (I'm a pro now) and I was cutting the recipe in half but forgot to cut the salt in half. Needless to say they looked great but tasted awful. We threw them out and I started over.
I also once forgot the baking powder and soda for a chocolate cake. It came out sorta like a thick brownie. It was actually not bad with ice cream so everything was all right in the end.
