Cream Peas

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2015
Very good and simple to make. I always struggle with the milk to flour ratio for creamed peas and this took the quess work out for me. I didn't have any crean so I used regular milk. It still tasted great but I may try it with cream next time just to give it a richer taste.

Sassy Steak Marinade and Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2015
I don't know when I enjoyed a steak this much. I intended on following the recipe as written but was a bit confused on the cocktail sauce. I wondered if it was meant to be the sauce you dip shrimp into and thought that may be odd so I used another suggestion on here to use chili sauce. I also didin't have any fresh mushrooms so I sauteed some thin onion slices and when they were almost tender I added a can of drained mushrooms. Not my favourite but still mighty yummy. It's the sauce that is over the top delicious. This will become a new keeper in our meals. Thanks for sharing.m

Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2015
I made this and took it to a potluck. It was delicious. I cooked it for 21/2 hours on low and followed the ingredient amounts. I had some italian cheese mixture that I had to use up so used that plus added sharp cheddar to make up the correct amount. I really liked this and it will be a go to for us.

I really enjoyed this recipe. It was so simple to put together. I mixed all the butter and mayo together with the spices because I wanted to be sure to have even coverage of the spices. I will make this again.

Mama's Best Broiled Tomato Sandwich

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2015
I followed this recipe to the letter. We ate these as open faced sandwiches so we put tomato slices on each slice of bread. I'm not a huge tomato fan but want to integrate them into my diet so I thought I would give this a try. Go ahead give this one a try it is worth it and you won't regret it. Don't change a thing.

Ham Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2015
This was delicious and very easy to put together in a hurry. I changed the amount of spagetti to about 10 ounces which I don't believe changed the outcome. This will go into our regular rotation whenever we have ham leftovers. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Gramma Brown's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2015
We really enjoyed this soup. I've had a tried and tested corn chowder that I've used for years so I was rluctant to try a new one. I am so pleased that I gave this a try. I tink the secret is to cook the vegetables with the cream corn. At first I thought that was a missprint but it is the secret. We found it thick enough so didn't have to add flour paste. Give this a try , you won't be disappointed.

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2015
I followed the recipe as written but had to make one small change. I wanted the gravy to be thicker so I added one extra tbsp of flour. This is really good and a different with the milk gravy. Will go into my keeper file.

Taffy Apple Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2014
Oh my. This is so delicious. I didn't have pineapple chunks so i decid to go ahead and try it with the crushed pineapple I did have. I drained it really well and carried on with the recipe. I wasn't sure about the peanuts but I did have some honey roasted peanuts so I decided to add half of what was called for. We liked the crunch the peanuts gave to the salad. When I make this again, and I will for sure make it again, I will used crushed pineapple again. You could eier use nuts or leave them out the salad would be great either way. Thanks for sharing this will be on my potluck rotation.

Three Packet Slow Cooker Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2014
I like how easy this is to prepare in the morning before heading out the door. I followed the recipe as written. The Italian dressing packet that I buy is 42 grams which is actually 1.4 ounces so use only 1/2 a packet. The ranch dressing is 28 grams which is 1 ounce so I can use 1 whole packet. Thanks for sharing such a good and easy recipe.

American-Style Creamy Greek Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2014
This was really easy to put together. I used the blender and it came together nicely. Unfortunately we didn't like this dressing. I only put in about 1/2 the salt and seasonings and even at that it was too salty. Sorry I won't make this again.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2014
I followed this recipe except for the brandy. I substituted 1 tsp vanilla instead. After I had started the cookies I discovered that I didn't have white chocolate chips but I did have lemon flavoured chocolate chips. Wow this was excellent. I baked them for 10 minutes at 375 which was just right. I love cookies that are a change from the choc chip, raisin cookie so thiis will go into my fav file. Thanks for the recipe.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2014
I like how easy this is to put together. I followed the sauce exactly but only had 3 chicken breasts. There was lots of sauce. In Canada our Italian dressing mix comes in 42 gram packages. For this recipe you need 1/2 of a package. Make sure to have the sauce quite hot before you add the cream cheese which you may want to cut into small pieces if you are using a brick. My cream cheese didn't quite get dissolved so there were chunks but it was still delicious. I think I'll try this in the slow cooker as others have suggested. Thanks for a yummy easy recipe.

Flavorful Chicken Fried Steaks with Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2014
I really liked this recipe. It was so easy to put together and tasted really good. There was lots of gravy to put over mashed potatoes or pasta. I didn't have a package of chicken gravy but I had turkey. It still tasted good. I think this is versatile enough that you could use almost any combination of cream soup, can of gravy and package of gravy mix. I'll make sure to put chicken gravy mix on my grocery list and try it as written next time.

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2014
I've tried a lot of Japanese ramen salads and pretty much like them all. It's my favourite salad. Up until know I thought the recipe I was using was good but WOW this one is out of this world delicious. I substituted almonds for the cashews because that is what I had on hand. I browned them in a pan on the stovetop. Oven was full. I followed the ingredients as written the only thing i did differently was I added 1 tbsp sesame oil the first time I made it and this time I didn't change a thing other than add the seasoning from the ramen noodles. I actually think it tasted better as written so that is how I will rate it not on my changes. I did however only use 1/2 of the dressing for the package of coleslaw I had. The package was a 397 gram (14 oz) and for our taste it was plenty juicy. Thanks for this recipe which keeps this my favourite salad.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2014
I love this recipe. It is so easy to make. I have a few tomatoes left from the harvest and had to use them up so I thought I would give this a try. I cooked the tomatoes with garlic and onion and after the 20 minutes as directed I used my immersion blender. I put all of that blended concoction into a sieve and worked it until it no longer had any liquid left in it. I only had tiny tomatoes so there were a lot of seeds but if i had large tomatoes I don't think I would even put it through the sieve. I did the rest as directed. The only thing I would question is the 6 servings. We only got 2 large bowls out of this so I'm not sure how you would feed 6 with this amount. Maybe my liquid reduced too much as the tomatoes cooked. I did add some cream I had to get rid of but I don't think you need to add cream or milk. It would be delicious as is.
