Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
Too bad we can't rate something more than 5 stars. These are truly the best brownies. I made them exactly as they were written. I mixed the ingredients by hand and not with the mixer. As another reviewer suggested that made the difference with consistency. They were more like a brownie not a cake like brownies are sometimes. I took these to work and they actually applauded me for bringing the brownies. I will make these and take them to work whenever I need a morale booster. Thanks Angie. This is a keeper.

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2012
This is a very easy and tasty recipe. I didn't change anything in the recipe except I didn't shred the cheese. Make sure you do that because it would be spread more evenly on the sandwich. I also used a yellow pepper because that is what I had in the fridge. the garlic mayo is exceptional. Don't skimp on the mayo. Spread a LOT on the bun and you will be glad you did. Thanks for sharing this recipe it is delicious and will go into my rotation.

Tangy Sliced Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
I had a cold pork loin I wanted to get used up so when I found this recipe I decided to give it a try. I was skeptical about the Worcestershire sauce but I made it as written. The only thing I changed was add some onions that I had cooked before. This is a delicious recipe. It has a bit of zing to it. We tried it the first time on Ciabbata buns and the next time open faced on a piece of bread. When you put the meat on the bread use a spoon to pour some of the sauce on. Yummy. Thanks for sharing. I will make extra pork loin to have this next time.

Juiciest Hamburgers Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
This is an excellent recipe for burgers. I get frustrated trying to make a burger that isn't dried out. This is IT. I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't have evaporated milk so I used 1% which is what I had on hand. If it was this good with milk I can't imagine how much better it would be with the evaporated milk. Make sure you try this recipe, you won't be disappointed.

Flavorful Flounder

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
I Brushed the lemon juice on top and then sprinkled Old Bay seasoning and left it sit for about half an hour while I got the other food ready. Then prepared the rest as written except I did sprinkle bread crumbs on top. I didn't BBQ but put it in the oven for 15 minutes at 400*. This was delicious. The Parmesan cheese and mayo combination was fantastic.

Cranberry Apple Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
I made one small change. I mixed the cranberry sauce and the apple pie filling together as another reviewer suggested. What a delicious dessert. I love how easy it was to throw together. I needed a dessert in a hurry and I had some cranberry sauce left so I decided to give this a try. I wouldn't change a thing when I make it next time...and I will definitely make it again. thanks for sharing.

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
I followed this recipe exactly. It turned out delicious. The beef was so tender and I strained the liquid and used that over the mashed potatoes. The sauce had a bit of zing to it from the Italian dressing but the ranch made it smooth. I love how easy this was to put together in the morning before I went to work.

Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
This was a great recipe and by far the best chocolate fondue I have ever made. It was a mild, smooth tasting chocolate and the consistency was good for dipping. I followed the recipe as written except used brewed coffee instead of the water and coffee granules. It did however make a lot. I had 15 people in and I have about 2 cups of the mixture left. This may be because there were other things as well not because we didn't like it. I will try to freeze this and save for another time. Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

Beets on the Grill

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
The timing was off a bit for me but the beets I had may have been a bit larger. The beets I had were about the size of a small orange and they took between 45 and 60 minutes. Make sure you turn them quite often or they tend to burn. I really liked this recipe and I liked that I didn't have to peel them. I will keep this recipe, especially when I go camping. Thanks for sharing this one.

Very good. I substituted feta for the bleu cheese only because that is what I had on hand. It was excellent with the feta.

Dry Ranch Style Seasoning for Dip or Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
Excellent seasoning. I am so pleased to have found this recipe as I use a fair bit of ranch seasoning packages. The only thing I would change is to cut the salt in half. It is very salty and I added 1/2 tsp dill. All in all a great recipe and very handy.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
I've made this salad numerous times and it is one of my favorites. I don't add the black olives only because they are not something I like. This salad is good even when I don' t have tomatoes available. I use a dry ranch style seasoning recipe from this site so I always have that seasoning readily available. It is also quite a bit cheaper to make your own seasoning than purchasing the packages. Good salad and has become a standard in our house when I need a pasta salad. Thanks for sharing.

The only thing I changed on this recipe was to add Old Bay Seasoning instead of salt and pepper. I liked the suggestions of bacon and will try that next time.I have made this numerous times and it is a good recipe as is if you don't want to change anything.

Loosemeat Sandwiches III

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
I don't usually review a recipe if I have changed it but this time I will. I took the advice of another reviewer and used cola instead of plain water. I know it sounds weird but it was excellent. I did everything else the same. These were very good sandwiches. It will go in my keeper box.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
This is an excellent bread. I have added the sunflower seeds at the beginning of the cycle and they are fine. I set this up at night with the timer and it is ready in the morning. I've also used 1/2 sunflower seeds and 1/2 pumpkin seeds. This was great if you like lots of seeds in your bread. I think it would be good with a bit of chopped nuts as well. All in all a great bread machine recipe that turns out every time. Thanks for this one.

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
I made this last night and it was excellent. So easy to make after work and it was ready for supper. I only had chicken thighs so that is what I used. I didn't peel the potatoes I just scrubbed them and cut them up. I would suggest cutting the potatoes in fairly small pieces depending on the size of the chicken pieces you use. The thighs I used were quite small so they were done a bit before the potatoes were done and this is so delicious you want the potatoes soft.Be sure to baste once everything starts to brown. I also didn't have fresh herbs so I used approximately 1/2 tbsp dried rosemary and 1/2 tsp dried oregano. This was not to much of either of these herbs but I love the flavor of rosemary. I also sprinkled about 1 tsp salt and a sprinkle of lemon pepper because that is what I had handy. I would highly recommend this recipe if you are in a hurry and need to get a meal on the table with little fuss. Thanks for sharing it Sandy.
