French Beef Stew
I don't like beef stew. But it is a great "warm and hearty" winter I was determined to find a beef stew I liked. I finally did! My husband loves beef stew and was always upset that I wouldn't make it for him. He loved this! (This is also the first time I enjoyed eating cooked carrots!) The thyme/dijon blend is superb!

Daisy Brand Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
What earned this cake 5 stars was the icing. I am not an icing fan, but the delicate blend of sour cream/butter was wonderful. I made the recipe with only one substitution; I used milk (1%) instead of water in the batter. These made 20 cupcakes that peaked nicely, and the frosting was just enough to liberally frost all 20! I will definitely make the icing again. The cake I might play with the "fat" part, as I am not partial to oil in my cakes. (Still VERY good as is!)

Chocolate Rum Balls I
This is the easiest rum ball dough to handle. I used a melon baller for ease, and little rolling with my hands was necessary. I did slightly increase the rum (a little under 3/4 cup) and they were a tremendous hit. Make sure to use a quality rum (I used Myer's Dark) to really accentuate the rum's flavor. Excellent with after dinner coffee.
