Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2013
This was the best pot pie I've ever made. It is not on the low calorie/low fat list of recipes but if you want some great comfort food, this fits the bill. Because I like it, I added 2 potatoes to the vegetables and a clove of garlic to the onions. Other than that, I made it as printed. Everyone at the table raved about it. Great job on this recipe. It is a keeper in my recipe book.

Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
These ribs were the best ribs I've ever prepared, by far. My only issue with them was in the fact that, even though I didn't cook them on a very high heat, because of the sugar in the sauce, the BBQ sauce burned on the bottom of my pan so badly that it took my a day and a half of working on it and soaking to get it off. It still left some black marks on the bottom of my pan. (My mistake was leaving my husband in charge of them while I ran to the store and he didn't smell it burning on the pan.) I think that I would cook the ribs in a crock pot in the sauce and avoid that whole issue.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
This is a wonderfully moist and tasty bread. My whole family loved it. I did substitute 1/4 cup of brown sugar for the 1/4 cup of white sugar. It was very good but it did make the bread brown. I also always grease and then sprinkle sugar my pans to give a nice crunch to the crust on sweet breads.

Oatmeal Sourdough Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
These rolls are SO GOOD!!!! My entire family gobbled them up. Although they are not in the "low fat" category, they were worth it. I made no adjustments to them except, knowing bread, the recipe states that you should put them on the baking sheet after the second rising. That would make them fall. You place them ON your baking sheet FOR the second rising. They do not have a strong sour taste from the sour dough starter (and my starter is well aged and very sour), they had a wonderful flavor.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
These cookies were okay. They did make me decide that I don't ever want to make cutout cookies again. I had a difficult time getting them off the cookie sheets without distorting the shape or when I waited for them to cool more, they broke apart. The taste of them was the same as most other sugar cookies I've made. It was too much stress for an already stress-filled holiday. :o)

Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
These apples were good but when I did as others suggested and dipped boiling water to remove the wax, the skins turned a brownish color and separated from the apple. It was okay for our own eating pleasure but I wouldn't give it as a gift. It did keep the caramel from sliding from the apple though.

Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
In the words of my daughter, "These rolls are awesome"! Little caloric pieces of heaven. Not for those watching their weight. I used butter instead of margarine because I never use the stuff. They are very moist and a bit on the doughy side when you butter them. I had to add a lot of extra flour at the kneading stage. I've been making bread for over 30 years and these are pretty easy but you have to "know your dough" or you might get a flop.
