Health, Home, and Happiness: Salmon Patties with Green Peas

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
I love salmon patties but this isn't a very good recipe. They didn't hold together and they weren't seasoned. I'm inspired to make my own recipe! I used one can of salmon, two eggs, garlic salt, some fresh parsley, pepper and onion powder. Next time, I need to measure stuff so I can list measurements for a recipe. But when I used an extra egg and more breadcrumbs. They did hold together. We've had these with mayonnaise and sour cream and relish. A great quick, easy, and inexpensive way to eat salmon.

Frank's Famous Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
Good basic sauce! I did doctor it some so I can't honestly review as is, but I had not had much success with homemade spaghetti sauce up until this point.

Fajitas

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Made this on 8/1/11 and loved it! A flavorful meal but with pretty simple ingredients and preparation. I used fresh squeezed lemon juice this time though and if I use it again, I think I'll use 1/3 of a cup instead of half because the lemon flavor kind of overpowered everything else. We'll definitely make this again though!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
This recipe had a great flavor made it on 7/30/11. I only had two huge salmon fillets and tried to use all the coating and breading, not a good decision. Will definitely make this again, had lots of taste and was pretty simple.

Nourished and Nurtured: Parmesan Spinach Bread (GAPS-legal, grain- and nut-free)

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
We didn't use this as a serving plate for sandwiches, I served it as a said at dinner on 7/30/11. It wasn't bad but didn't really turn out like I thought it would either. I think it could use a little more flavor. I do think I'll make it again, but I'll punch up the seasonings and if I don't use it for sandwiches, I'll top if with more parmesan cheese and garlic. I do think it's cool that it's grain free.

Joel liked it, but I didn't care for it much. A little too strong for me!

Salmon with Mixed Greens

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
Made this on 6/14 and we really liked it! Very tasty and a refreshing simple meal for Nourishing Traditions. I even forgot to sprinkle the paprika on the salmon before baking and it still turned out. Also when you sprinkle the flour on the salmon, go thin so that it gets a nice browning on top of the salmon. A nice summer meal felt very light and healthy but still satisfying. Would probably be even better by adding some dijon mustard to the salmon before baking. Joel even liked the red wine vinaigrette.

Spring-is-Here Asparagus Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
Made this on 6/13 We made it for dinner, but it would be a really nice lunch or accompanying soup. Since it was all we had for dinner I added chicken and served it with a dollop of sour cream. A nice, simple meal!

Whey and Cream Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
I made this for the second time on 4/25/11, I think again I let the milk sit out a little to long. I used raw milk and let it sit out for longer than four days. I also think I let it drain for a little too long. I let it drain most of a day and overnight when several hours would have been fine. It doesn't taste bad, but it would taste better if I didn't let it drain so long next time. The whey came out much better than last time, I can't really remember what I did wrong.

Delicious Sloppy Joes | The Purposed Heart

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
04/26/2011 This is the second time I've made this recipe. I under estimated the time again, it needs 1/2 hour to simmer after adding all the ingredients and browning the meat, delicious. We're putting most of the leftover in the freezer for later. I made two vegetables with it tonight and that wasn't really necessary. It'd be enough with lots of broccoli or a nice big salad, very filling.
