Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
The flavor was good, however for me I only got 24 cookies and i measured the balls to see if I was making them too big, and I wasn't. .. I also found them to be VERY crumbly and dry. I know shortbread is some-what dry I just wasnt expecting it to be to that degree.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This went over very well with my family. The flavors were amazing, the meat was really tender. I didn't use celery because I didn't have any on hand, but it was great! Thanks for sharing!

Traditional Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
Overall this was a good dish. I seasoned the meat with garlic salt due to the reccomendations of other reviewers. I did not like the ketchup flavor in the gravy though. I would do this again without the ketchup. Thanks!

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
We thought this was really good. I made minimal changes because 1. it was what i had on hand. and 2. it was made for my 6 year old who wants nothing to do with mushrooms. I followed the directions except I had to use ginger from my cupboard because I read the ingredients incorrectly and did not purchase fresh, and added fresh broccoli and carrots vs green onions and mushrooms. We also had to use Fettucine noodles because I thought it was linguini lurking in my cupboard, but it wasnt :) My picky 6 year old had 2 bowls and my 2 year old ate her bowl as well and told me "momma, this is good" Thanks for sharing!

Old-Fashioned Scalloped Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Made this for thanksgiving dinner, it was very good, but I did substitute one can of whole kernel corn for a can of cream corn. so I used 2 cream & 1 regular. I would also add some chopped onions next time.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I dont know if I have any "business" rating this recipe as I only use the meatball part. I have my own sauce I make from scratch, but was searching for that perfect spaghetti meatball, and i have found it!

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
followed the suggestion of other reviewers to add the 1/16" of water on bottom and cover w/foil. Otherwise they were prepared according to recipe. These ribs were very tender and fell right of the bone while trying to flip them over. The lemon wasnt for me though. Perhaps I will try onion next time. Thanks for sharing!

Smothered Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
I seasoned our meat with black pepper and garlic salt. Otherwise followed the recipe directions. While it was not bad, it was not fabulous either. I found it to be a bit bland. I would use the recipe again as a base, but be sure to add spices to the gravy. Thanks for sharing!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
The flavor of these cookies is great, the dough is sooo sticky though I find it to be frusterating. They are not cookies I can have my daughter roll and cut due to the 'stick factor'

Split Pea Soup

This was pretty good. I used ham, potato and carrots. I think it could use a bit more flavor though. Next time I will try some of the recommendations of other reviewers.

Fried Cabbage and Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
This was so simple and very good. Excellent side dish for the herbed pork roast on this site. Totally reminds me of something Oma would make. The only thing I would do differently is make 1/2 the amount, we had 4 adults and one kid eat this as a side dish and I have a large tupperware left.

Herbed Pork Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
This was excellent. I was only able to marinade in the rub for about 2 1/2 hours due to my starving husband. It was moist, the flavors penetrated the meat nicely, I can just about imagine how wonderful this would be sitting for the full time or longer! Thanks for sharing!

Grilled Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
I let this simmer for about an hour and 15 minutes. it did only reduce by about a third. In my opinion it could have used a lot more gorgonzola as i found this to be quite bland. i don't know if it is because i did not add the nutmeg ( i cant stand nutmeg) or what, but nothing I need to rush to make again.
