Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I have never made Lemon Meringue Pie before and this turned out SO good and SO easy! I used my deep dish pie pan and Pillsbury pie crust! When I was cooking I wasn't sure when the lemon filling was "thick enough" once it started boiling the thickness didn't seem to change so after a few minutes I went ahead and poured it in the baked pie crust. I have made lots of meringues in the past and this meringue was very sweet which is what I prefer so if you like your meringue less sweet I'd use less sugar. I also used a bit of cream of tarter for the meringue. I was disappointed at first because I didn't think it had set and thought I would have to throw it out but once it cooled completely the whole way through the Lemon gel was a perfect consistency! This is my husbands favorite kind of pie and he LOVED it! He said it was the best lemon meringue he has ever had. I don't know how well known Tippin's is but they have the best pies EVER and I can honestly say this lemon meringue beats Tippins Lemon Meringue HANDS DOWN! My husband agreed! I plan on making this again for sure!!!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
DELISH!!! I just made this and will be coming back to it again for sure! My husband loves lasagna however I have never made it. He said it was the best lasagna he has ever had and couldn't wait to eat leftovers tomorrow. I only made a few changes. I added a 15oz. can of tomato sauce to stretch the meat sauce a bit more. My husband said that he always wishes that the lasagna he has had in the past had more ricotta cheese so I doubled the ricotta, parmesan, parsley and eggs. It was AWESOME! next time I think I am going to cut the recipe in half except for the ricotta portion and do that as the recipe calls. It made enough lasagna to last us weeks!

Mexican Wedding Cakes II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
I fallowed this recipe exactly and they turned out SO good! Whenever I think of christmas cookie trays these cookies are always on it! I used a table spoon to scoop out the dough. it made them a little smaller then normal but I have 20 cookie trays to make and needed to stretch the recipe and it ended up making 46 cookies! I also cooked them for 10 minutes they were a perfect texture not to soft and not to crunchy. I will be making these again for sure!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
The over all waffle was ok. The texture of these was pretty good. I cooked them in a Belgian waffle maker and they had a great color. I added double sugar and some cinnamon but still even when it was done they tasted to much like flour :-( I was kind of disappointing seeing as how it had such great reviews

Cooky Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
These cookies are so good! I only made a few changes because I didn't have the some of the ingredients. instead of corn flakes I used rice kripsies and instead of the walnuts I used white chocolate chips. I prefer my cookies to be soft and chewy however I really liked how these were crunchy but not in an over done kind of way. My husband looooved these. I needed a quick recipe and wasn't paying attention to the quantity after I mixed everything together I rolled them into tbls size balls and ended up with 106 cookies! My husbands office loves me now :-)

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
This sauce was really good but nothing special. I have used other recipes on this site before that I think I like better. However like I said it was very good and would make again. I like how few ingredients you need for this recipe. I used a little more cheese then called for and added nutmeg. I think if I make this again I will use half milk and half and half or whipping cream to thicken it up so I dont have to use so much cheese.

Witches' Brew

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I did use a differant punch but I used the hand and let it float around in the punch. It was very cool and everyone loved it. when I cut the glove off almost all of the fingers broke off. That could have been because it was only in my freezer for 3 or 4 days before the party and it said to give it a week. next time I will try it that way. by the end of the night the hand was falling apart but since it is made with the gelitine it doesnt really melt and with the rassberry seeds it kind of made it look like muscle fallin off of a bone. very gross but VERY cool looking at the same time everyone thought it was great!

Green Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I made this for halloween and it turned out great! it was quite tasty! I did replace the ginger ale with sprite and i made a frozen monster hand out of cranberry juice and gelitine and let it float around in the punch which added a cool effect. It was an adult costume party so of course by the end of the night the boys has spiked it with vodka and it tasted great then too!

Holiday Eggnog Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I wasnt thrilled with this pie. I am a HUGE egg nog fan and the pie turned out more like a sweet egg keish. It tasted fine but I knew that the only people that would like it would probably be my mom and I. I also cooked it for an hour and it still didnt have the right texture that I wanted. I ended up just throwing it away. This recipe may work for others it definatly sounded good to me but just didnt turn out in my favor. Also be sure that the people you are serving it to like egg nog. I may someday attempt it again just to see if it was something I did wrong or its just the recipe (I did fallow it exactly).

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
these were awsome! even my fiance's sister who made the exact same thing (only her recipe called for a bunch of powdered sugar) admitted that mine were better then hers. Everyone said they tasted like reeses peanut butter cups. I used ghirardelli milk chocolate chips instead of the simi-sweet chocolate chips. They were fantastic. The only trouble I had with them was spreading the chocolate on the very cumbly mixture. I ended up spreading it as far to the edge as I could and just cut out the imperfections. overall great recipe I will definatly make these again and again.

Warm Apple Buttermilk Custard Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This is by far the yummiest pie I have EVER made! I loved it! Along with everyone else. I brought it to a christmas party and I was told by my younger cousin that if I didnt bring it next year then he wouldnt let me in the door. haha It was such a hit that I made it again for another holiday party a few days later and it was just as big of a hit there. I fallowed the recipe exactly except I did use 3 apples and used a deep dish pie crust and it was just enough. 2 apples probably wouldnt have been enough for the pie. I didnt think it was to sweet as some people had said. It was perfect! Im sure this is going to become a dessert I will be making for any special event along with whenever i feel like making a good dessert from now on!
