So I have a terrible flaw.  I cannot accurately assess my abilities.  For some reason I think I am superwoman!

My little sister recently graduated from high school.  I thought to myself.. "I want to do something special for her".  So i decide to make a cake.  Now, I have never made a cake before and did not realize how hard it would be.  I do not give up though!  So I get to work.  I decided on a pretty basic style, a pile of books.  Chocolate cake and Fondant easy right.  I decide the best time to work on a cake is after work the day before the cake is needed.  So at 11:00pm I get started.  The cakes came out wonderful...  the first book came out wonderful, then sleep depervation hit.  The fondant on the second cake was tearing, crumbs were getting all over it and the cake nearly hit the wall.  But i was convinced my my voice of reason (my sweet bf)  that bed was a better option than cake tossing.  When i woke up I was in a much better mood and finished the cake up.  It came out beautifully! (See photo # 1)

Well, now my family was putting in orders left and right!

Last weekend my nephew Ayden, turned 2  and my baby sister Natasha, turned 1.  Of course I made the cakes because my family is just as bad as i am about assessing my abilities.  5 hours later i produced pictures 2 and 3.

I am a little bit Loopy now and a lot tired but, everyone is happy and so that makes me happy.

WOW, is all I have to say! You need to call your nearest bakery and see if they are hiring cause Honey, you have talent!! Now that you have created these masterpieces for your family, guess who gets to do All the cakes from now on? Take care of yourself and Congrat's on another success. Patty

About Me
I am 22 years old and I just started seriously cooking about a year ago. I am very much in love with a man who can take care of himself... just not very well. He tries though. =) My mom was more of an open-a-can type of cook so I learned everything I know from intuition and of course Allrecipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Greek food and anything with spinach. I just love that green stuff. Mmm
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom does not really enjoy spending much time in the kitchen, however every Christmas she puts on her oven mitts and get down to business. She makes the most wonderful cranberry bread and gets many requests for it. She would always pull my sisters and me into the kitchen with her to help out. We would chop the cranberries while she talked about how she and our grandma would do the same thing when she was a child.
My cooking triumphs
The first meal I cooked when I moved into my own place was a pot roast. I had never made a pot roast before but i wanted to break in my new crockpot. (I Love My Crockpot). My BF devoured three plates and said it was better then his mother's. (The highest complement from him)
My cooking tragedies
=/ I had just started cooking when my BF and his friends came over for their annual get together. I was preparing chicken parmasian for them. So many things went wrong... I had marinated the chicken so none of the flour would stay on, the batter stuck to the frying pan and to top it all off When i served it it was still pink in the middle. oi.. bad night.. i almost gave up cooking. lol
