Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
yum! I double the recipe for the cinnamon spread. This makes a lot of rolls but that's never a problem because I roll them and freeze them. They freeze very well.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
Excellent, I loved it! I waited until the end to see if it needed sugar, it didn't. Great sauce! Edited to add...This is still my fav sauce recipe. I often add zucchini and/or spinach to the sauce and puree with an immersion blender before adding the meat. Easy sauce!

Chole Saag

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
Wow! This was really delicious!!! I subbed heavy cream for the yogurt just because I had some that I needed to use up. I added the broth, spinach and peas to the onions and used a hand blender to blend about half of the mixture. Then I added the chickpeas and cream. Next time I'll use yogurt. My South Indian husband LOVED the dish! I usually prefer my veggies raw; never in a million years would I have thought I would love a dish with cooked spinach and peas but this recipe was really really good. I think I even like it better than Saag Paneer.

Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
Delicious! I drained the chickpeas before I read the entire recipe. I added chicken broth for liquid and then a little cream at the end to get more gravy. It was flavorful, easy to make and my Indian family members loved it. I served it with rice and Trader Joe's Garlic Naan.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
great dough! probably the first time ever that every one ate up all of the crusty outer pieces first! I proofed the yeast with the warm water and a couple pinches of sugar before adding - and I did let it rise a bit on top of the stove while the oven was warming.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Great recipe! I followed another reviewer's suggestion and boiled the chicken..then chopped it and sauteed it in the sauce until absorbed. I did replace the oregeno with ground cumin b/c I think it makes more sense. Once I made this recipe with lemon juice instead of lime b/c that's all I had, it was still great. I have also added additional veggies to the saute...jalapeno, bell pepper, zucchinni...The chicken and seasoning are the core of the recipe and it's fantastic...there's so many ways to personalize this recipe. It's a keeper!!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Fantastic!! This recipe has replaced 'Good Old Fashioned Pancakes' (also from this site) as our go to pancake recipe. The soured milk adds a great but subtle flavor.

Curried Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
Fantastic! I used 1/4tsp chili powder instead of hot sauce. Everyone gobbled it up. I will make this on a regular basis. We call it Masala Popcorn.

Pita Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
These are great. I keep it simple, whole wheat pitas sprayed with butter flavored Pam and sprinkled with sea salt. I cut the pita in half, slide a pizza cutter into the half and split the pita...I don't like thick pita chips. Always served with our fav hummus (Curried Hummus on allrecipes).

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
original recipe is great...second time I made the following changes....replaced tom. sauce with 2 large cans crushed tomatoes and added 2 entire pkgs chili seasoning mix. Chili is so forgiving and personal...I think the key to this recipe is the salsa. I love it, this is my new go to recipe.

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Delicious! I wasn't sure about adding garbanzo beans but it was fantastic. I skipped the corn and cut way down on the chili powder (I buy chili powder from an Indian grocery...it's much hotter than mainstream brands), adding a jalapeno and hot Rotel for spice. Served with a dollup of sour cream and this is now a new family favorite.

Chutney Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
Delicious! I used Miracle Whip instead of Mayo to cut down on fat/cal. I didn't add the chutney, instead I served it with different chutneys on the side and let everyone add their fav chutney. My favorite chutney for this was mint chutney. I also tried it with Spicy Tomato Chutney from this site. That was good. This recipe is also good without any chutney at all.

Naan

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
Excellent recipe. I omitted the oil and made the dough and let it rise in a bread machine, I did need to add a small amount of additional water. I've made this with and without garlic....definitely prefer it with garlic. I've also tried using spray butter instead of real butter, just to make it a little easier/lighter. There is a taste difference and I'll take the extra fat/calories and use real butter in the future.

This brownie recipe is great! The Chai flavor is as promised, subtle. I love the coconut too. My kids loved it but my Chai loving South Indian husband hated it. Still I give it 5 stars :)

Butter Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
Delicious! I subbed steamed chopped cauliflower (1/2 head) for the potato; 1 can chopped tomatoes with jalapeno for the tomato soup; 1 can coconut milk for the cream; ginger paste for the ginger powder; red onion instead of yellow and olive oil instead of canola and I added chopped cilantro at the end and served it with choice of basmati rice or naan. I tolerate raw cauliflower and HATE cooked cauliflower but I thought this recipe, cauliflower included was wonderful. It's very flavorful, not too spicy and my South Indian husband LOVED it.
