Spicy Shrimp (Chingri Maach)

Reviewed: May 21, 2013
Added water and a couple dollups of yogurt to make a little gravy. Tried it both with uncooked and pre-cooked shrimp, I preferred the uncooked. Will make again and again and again - easy and quick to make!

Buffalo Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
I was surprised that the cheese melted smoothly. I did use less than called for. I boiled frozen chicken breasts and used that broth instead of water in the soup. Next time I will add the bouillon last after a taste test. I also think I might like it better if I blended everything before adding the chicken.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I wanted to like them but to me they were bland tasted like a hot dog wrapped in bacon, the brown sugar didn't do much for it - not worth the fat and calories!

Chai Tea Mix

Great! Too much sugar however. 1 cup of sugar was plenty! Second time around I used 1/2 tsp cardamom...personal preference.

yum! I used crumbled club crackers instead of bread crumbs. The adults loved it but not the kids.

Rum Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
yummy! I changed the glaze recipe a bit....1/2 stick of butter and only 1/4 cup rum. Poured it down the size of the cake pan while the case was still in it....after about an hour flip it on to a serving dish.

Mexican Steak Torta

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
These were delicious. I was skeptical about frying a roll with mayo on it and I nearly skipped that step but I am glad I didn't...the warm toasted creaminess = yum! I have since toasted bread/mayo like this for other sandwiches too. We'll have these again and again.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
original recipe is great...second time I made the following changes....replaced tom. sauce with 2 large cans crushed tomatoes and added 2 entire pkgs chili seasoning mix. Chili is so forgiving and personal...I think the key to this recipe is the salsa. I love it, this is my new go to recipe.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
great dough! probably the first time ever that every one ate up all of the crusty outer pieces first! I proofed the yeast with the warm water and a couple pinches of sugar before adding - and I did let it rise a bit on top of the stove while the oven was warming.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Fantastic!! This recipe has replaced 'Good Old Fashioned Pancakes' (also from this site) as our go to pancake recipe. The soured milk adds a great but subtle flavor.

These are really good. We used ground pork instead of ground beef. We'll make these again.

Curried Popcorn

Fantastic! I used 1/4tsp chili powder instead of hot sauce. Everyone gobbled it up. I will make this on a regular basis. We call it Masala Popcorn.

Runzas (Bierocks)

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
Loved the idea of these....meat and cheese in a neat little package. This recipe is pretty bland for my taste but it's easy to customize. Maybe next time I'll try pepper jack cheese or adding peppers to the mixture. I look forward to making them again.

Spicy Hot Chicken Legs

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
These were good. After baking I served them with the leftover sauce from the slow cooker and ranch dressing on the side. I was able to get 12 legs into my slow cooker by putting them in vertically - meaty side down. I'll make this again.

Chip Chicken Lollipops

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Not that great. I expected crunchy but it really wasn't. Not much flavor from the chip came through; I used Lays BBQ. It's so easy to make I'll probably give it another try with a different chip, maybe Jay's HOT BBQ. Here's a tip - squeeze the chips on to the chicken it helps more chips stick to the chicken and that means more chip flavor.

Lumpia (Shanghai version)

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
Great! Very easy to make. I've made them twice. The first time I followed the recipe and loved them. Second time I used ground chicken instead of pork/beef and less salt. Even thought I was using low sodium soy sauce I still thought the original recipe is too salty. I loved it with ground chicken and even added the extra meat filling to Pancit...yum! My local Asian market carries frozen Lumpia wrappers so I used those instead of egg roll wrappers....I am not sure if there is a flavor difference between the two. Another variation...I did brown my ground meat before adding the other ingredients.

Quick and Easy Pancit

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
It was quick and easy, but a little bland. I used chicken thighs instead of breasts and added rooster sauce to my serving for some kick. I will make this again. I have made this several times. There are never any leftovers! Save the rice noodles for another dish and use real Pancit canton wheat noodles for this one....it makes a WORLD of difference. Pancit noodles have so much flavor! I get mine at the local Asian food market. Also..instead of chicken I now use ground pork. So so good....5 stars good with the right noodles and ground pork.
