Im a single mother/artsy type. I never use to cook much for any reason other then survival, but after I had my son I figured I better get serious about learning to cook.
The more I cook the more I enjoy it. I'm finding Caribbean and Mexican foods are my strong points. I like to cook a lot of Asian foods too, but nothing makes my little boy happier then a nice hearty Mexican dish or some yummy Caribbean cooking. Having lots of fun on allrecipes.com this website is a GODSEND! I've tried so many awesome recipes and have a ton more to try!
My favorite things to cook
Mexican, Asian, Caribbean food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am the queen of Thanksgiving cooking in my family, thanks to all the wonderful I found on this website!
My cooking triumphs
Hey everytime I cook something that's edible it's a triump for me! Also when I cooked sweet and sour chicken for the first time (recipe from this site). It was the hardest thing I had cooked to date but it tasted way better then the sweet and sour chicken I got from the resturants. I was thrilled by that and it's one of the things that made me fall in love with allrecipe.com
My cooking tragedies
Another time I tried to cook that same sweet and sour chicken meal since it had become my "Arc de Triomphe" or whatever.
I had made the perfect sweet and sour sauce and poured it into a serving bowl but the sauce was too hot. The bowl broke and all that sweet and sour sauce was all over the floor and counters. I had to make some more sauce quickly but I was out of white vinegar, so I tried to use apple cider vinegar instead. LOL. Needless to say, that didn't go over so well. What's worst I had my hyper critical mother over. She still hasn't let me live that down...
