I have never made a soup before and wanted to make chicken and wild rice for two large gatherings I had on the same weekend. So based on all of the wonderful reviews, I decided to use this recipe and definately was not disappointed. I followed the suggestions of other reviewers such as adding carrots, celery and onion as well as cutting down the amount of flour and butter and I used half and half and 1% milk instead of cream. In addition, I also did the unthinkable and made 40 servings-worth instead of the 8 the recipe is made for. While that added extra time to preparation and cooking, I am thrilled to say the soup turned out simply amazing and that everyone who had it loved it and wanted the leftovers and recipe (even those who self-admittedly don't like soup that much). Thanks for posting this recipe, it's delicious!
