Sloppy Sams

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
This is a great recipe! I'm not vegetarian, but I'm always looking for ways to make my family's favorite foods healthier. Sloppy Joes are one of our favorite comfort foods, and these were every bit as good as the "ground beef and a can of sauce" version. We may never eat a regular sloppy joe again! I did add extra chili powder and a bit of cayenne to give it some extra kick.

Lemon Orzo Primavera

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
This was really good. It was easy to make, and my family really liked it. I used extra veges: 1 shredded zuchinni, 1 cup diced asparagus, and 1 cup frozen carrots & peas. I also added about 1t black pepper. It was really tasty, and a great way to use up extra veges.

Wendy's Quick Pasta and Lentils

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
This was really good! I never thought my husband and son would like a dish made with lentils, spinach, and tomatoes, but they loved it! This dish is delicious, filling, and all the ingredients are things I always have on hand. I think this will be my go-to meal for nights when I forget to thaw something for dinner.

KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* Spicy Turkey Potato Boats

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
These were really good. They taste like comfort food, but are really quite healthy. My only complaint is that they were a bit bland. They had good heat due to the cayenne, but were laking in something. Next time I will use garlic & onion diced tomatoes rather than plain. These will likely become a regular at our house.

Party Punch IX

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This was ok. I followed the recipe and used orange Jello, but we all thought it had too much pineapple taste. Not nearly as good as I expected.

Abby's Chicken Rollatini

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
My husband loved this chicken. I thought it was bland. The cheese melted out into the pan, so all the cheese flavor was lost. I think it would have been really good if the mozzarella hadn't leaked out, but without it, there just wasn't much flavor. My husband thought it was good, so I will be making it again, but I will probably add some spices to the inside of the chicken.

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
This was a great recipe. It was so simple. This creates a nice smoky pork with nothing fancy, no unexpected flavors. My husband is usually disappointed with pulled pork, as the BBQ sauce is usually overpowering for him. He loved this pork as-is with just the smoky flavor; I put BBQ sauce on mine. We both thought it was the best pulled pork we have tried. We will certainly make this again - it will be great at summer get-togethers.

Chicken and Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This was just ok. I had high expectations, as all the ingredients are things I really like, but this recipe just didn't live up to my expectations. It didn't really taste like chili. It wasn't bad, but I don't think I will make it again.

Beef Bacon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
We are divided on this one. My husband loved it. I hated it. The beef tasted a lot like pot roast, which is ok, but not what I had expected. The bacon was awful. It was soft, but not chewy. I can't describe it, but I thought the texture of the bacon was disgusting. I did like the onions. I put them in the food processor when done and they made a nice gravy. I will not eat this again, but I know my husband will be asking me to make it. I give it 2 stars, he gives it 5.

Impressed Myself Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
We really liked this recipe. It will be on our regular dinner rotation for sure. I pounded the chicken and seasoned it with Emeril's Essence. Once filled with stuffing and wrapped with bacon (which I did not pre-cook), I placed the chicken bundles in the slow cooker and cooked them on high for 2.5 hours while I took my son to football practice. When we got home, they were cooked perfectly! I put them under the broiler for 10 minutes to crisp the bacon. The chicken was juicy and delicious. I really like this recipe.

Italian Turkey Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
This was a great recipe for an easy casual dinner. It took only a couple minutes to put the few ingredients into the slower cooker in the AM. I removed the turkey bones and pulled apart the meat when I got home from work. By dinner time, the meat was perfectly cooked. I melted some provolone cheese over the meat under the broiler. I thought the sandwiches had a great flavor. My husband said the flavor was 'odd' but he would eat it again.

Amatriciana

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I thought this was pretty good. I followed the recipe, except that I used a whole pound of bacon and I let it simmer for about 25 minutes after adding all the ingredients. My husband, however, was very disappointed that there was not much bacon flavor. After smelling the bacon cooking, he was really looking forward to a great dinner, but the bacon flavor just wasn't there. Next time I will simmer the tomatoes, but I will add the crispy bacon at the last minute. Overall, it was a welcome change from our normal jar of sauce off the shelf.
