Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
I'm not a pork chop fan to begin with but I saw some beautiful chops at the market and went searching for a recipe to spice them up a bit. Unfortunately, this recipe didn't do anything to enhance the flavor. They were quite bland, no flavor whatsoever. I will definitely not use this recipe again.

Emma's Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
I was excited to give this a try because of all the great reviews. I found this to be very bland and not light or crispy. Followed the recipe to the letter. I think I'll stick with a yeast recipe.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
My 18 year old daughter decided she needed to learn to cook, and she used this recipe for her first attempt at a family dinner. It was absolutely fantastic. She followed the recipe for the most part but did leave out the peppers. The Rotel tomatoes with added chiles gave the flavor plenty of heat. Great, great, great. She's eager to make it again!

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
My first attempt at chicken fried steak was a moderate success. The oil was a little too hot but I managed to get it to the right temperature and the remaining steaks turned out great. The gravy was a bit bland, and I would likely add a few spices to that, but all in all it was a very good recipe and a definite hit with the family!

Sweet Potato Casserole IV

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Great idea but too sweet. I don't care for sweet potatoes, but my guests gave me a love it/hate it response. Half loved it, half hated it. I'll keeping searching for one that gets thumbs up all the way around.

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Yes, it was slightly more moist than it might have been without the brining, but it didn't change the flavor of the meat much if it all. I was so excited to give this a try, but I'm not sure it was really worth the extra work.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
Too many vegetables, not enough broth or barley. A 2 lb. roast was way more than enough. The flavor was good. Like others, I would reduce the vegetables, increase the broth and add a few spices. I will make this again with the modifications.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
I recently tried a chicken taco soup that was delicious, so I was excited to give this a try after having read such positive reviews. I followed the recipe precisely as it was posted and it was just ok. The flavor was a little strange, but I couldn't pinpoint whether it was the enchilada sauce or the cilantro. There wasn't a lot of bulk, and the soup was very liquid/thin. I think if I were to try it again, I'd definitely reduce the amount of water. My husband enjoyed it but the kids did not.

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I saw the picture and I was hooked. I picked up all the ingredients then started to read the reviews, which really made me worry about the flavor. I have to say I am so pleasantly surprised. These taste just like a shortbread cookie (Lorna Doone). We used all the ingredients as they were originally posted except I used almond slices rather than whole almonds for the nails. They were fairly easy to slide out after baking (for squeezing gel in nail beds). I also used green food coloring in the dough. It's tough to find a good thickness...the ones that I rolled out pencil thin were a little too thin...the ones I rolled out a little bigger than pencil thin were a bit too big, but both sizes looked great! I used the chocolate chip wart idea and used red icing at the opposite end of the finger for flavor and effect. I placed the fingers on a bed of gummy worms and it's ready to go for the party tomorrow! My 10 year old son is thrilled! Thanks for a great recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Very good soup! My husband devoured it, and my picky 10 year old enjoyed the chicken along with some cheese quesadillas. This recipe is a keeper!

Slow Cooker Cream of Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
I was excited to try this because of the great ratings, but I found it to be a rather bland soup. I even tried spicing it up with a few of the recommended spices, but it just didn't have great flavor or consistency. I'll keep searching for a great potato soup recipe for the winter months!
