My favorite family cooking traditions

My cooking triumphs
My deer chili is legendary!
My cooking tragedies
I have been banned from making meatloaf by my family for over 20 years. I've tried a few recipes from this site and still no joy. I guess it skips a generation. :(

Fruit Leather
I did this with VERY ripe pears so I used about half the sugar. I did use my vitamix and it does make it easier. It's not really necessary to peel the fruit, but you do need to remove the seeds, especially apple seeds as they are pretty toxic. My 19 month old grandson loved it. His Mommy liked it too! At first I was unhappy because I didn't get it super evenly spread, but the edges got a little cripsy while the middle was chewy. It was two foods in one, fruit leather and fruit chips! Thanks for the recipe!!!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce
Made it the first time a few weeks ago exactly as written. Hubby thought it was good but a little sweet. I cut down on the honey and made it slightly hotter with some extra crushed red pepper flakes for tonight. We may never order pizza for delivery again! Yummy! Thanks for the recipe!

Chef John's Bacon Jam
Everyone really loved this! I served it with sliced baguette that I toasted with a little garlic butter. Does anyone know how long it will keep in the fridge? As usual Chef John is awesome! Making his lasagna for a Christmas Party on Sunday!
