I just graduated from college! I am now living at home and don't cook as much as I did when I was on my own. I still enjoy every aspect of it though. I'm currently taking cake decorating courses at Michaels, and starting my job as a tutor. :) I enjoy traveling to different places and tasting their specialties. I am a foodie :). My favorite things to cook
Anything that has to do with the oven, and new things to try in my bread machine! I also love making cookies and cupcakes, and enjoy decorating them as well.

Fondant cakes, cream puffs that don't fall, various yeast breads, making things that are too cute to eat, bringing things home and having my mom ask where I bought it : )
My cooking tragedies
Too many, but here are a few recent ones : ) - Too much food coloring in fondant = wet marshmallow fondant - Dead yeast = no bread - Not spraying my "non-stick" pans while baking bread = fragmented bread - Using all purpose flour instead of bread flour - Using cold beer for pizza dough - Pizza Stone that wasn't hot enough - Replacing oil with applesauce... = gummy desserts

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
I don't know if it's just me... but whenever I make snickerdoodles, it just puffs up into a mound and never flattens out.. I may want to try to flatten them before baking next time. There was a distinct baking soda taste in this recipe, I will probably reduce it next time. I reduced the sugar to 1 cup. Great recipe though!!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
As with all the other reviews, I agree that this is a really really good recipe for pumpkin bread! I cut this recipe in half because I don't need that many loaves, I doubled the spices, and only had 1/2 cup brown sugar + 1/2 cup white sugar (this is for half the recipe), I adorned the top of the bread with a line of walnuts, and then baked it for 65 minutes. It was even better the next day, warmed in the microwave with a little bit of whipped cream and chocolate syrup....

Sweet Potato Pie I
Delicious! I've never had sweet potato pie before so I don't have much to compare to... but this was really good! This was also my first attempt at baking a pie. Some changes I made were: Reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup light brown (not packed) + 1/4 white sugar, added 1/4 tsp of ginger instead of nutmeg, and microwaved 2 medium sized yams for around 8 minutes each wrapped in plastic.. then scooped out the insides. Next time I make this, I will reduce the sugar even more, I feel like the yams are sweet enough on their own.
