Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
I used all butter and no shortening like the other reviewers suggested. I also forgot to add the milk. I thought it was good but my boyfriend said it was too sweet and he only ate one of the cupcakes I made for him.

Chayote Squash Side Dish

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
It was pretty good except I think the vinegar wasn't necessary. It was a little too tangy when you got to the bottom. I cooked mine a lot longer than 2-3 minutes, maybe like 20 minutes. I also used half the garlic.

Banana Muffins with a Crunch

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
They tasted good but they were really crumbly and my boyfriend didnt like the granola. he thought it was "chewy nuts"... lol. i used soymilk instead of regular milk, almonds instead of walnuts, and for the granola i used kashi golean crunch cereal

Buckeye Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
Well I thought they were pretty good! I used the tip of 3 cups confectioners sugar. Only prob was the p.b. was really stiff and hard to mix. They tasted really good though, I was looking to recreate the taste of the ones you get from Cracker Barrel because they are so expensive and these definately did the trick. My boyfriend said they taste exactly the same.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: May 14, 2013
I love making this! Its so easy and you can easily substitute if you want to make a low fat or non dairy version. I made the recipe exactly how it is, didn't change anything

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
They were excellent. I followed the recipe exactly and used Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce. My boyfriend said they tasted just as good as the ones you'd get at sticky fingers.

Tiny Chicken Turnovers

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
Well, they took FOREVER to make!! That's why I'm giving it four stars. They tasted good though... I didn't get to make the other stuff I was going to make because these took so long. I think next time if I do something like this I will just use chicken salad from the deli and some premade dough to wrap them in.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2013
These were good. I made the recipe exactly except used soymilk instead of regular milk, and light sour cream instead of regular. They were just a little too dry. I had to keep drinking water while I was eating them or I would get choked up.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
These are really good if you like a really rich and fudgy brownie! Next time I will warm up the frosting before putting it on the brownies, because I think it smushed them. I'm also going to double the recipe next time because it didnt make very much. Excellent brownies, though.

Sausage Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
I just made a few adjustments to make it easier for me. First, I used ground deer meat instead of sausage. Instead of the canned mushrooms I used 1/2 a package of fresh mushrooms and pureed them into the sauce. I also used cream of celery instead of cream of mushroom. It came out fantastic! I will definitely make this again!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
i used red velvet cake mix and whipped cream cheese frosting. i used the whole can of frosting and the cake was still very crumbly and hard to mold together. i think if i used regular icing it might have worked better. but i managed to get a few cake balls out and froze them. i used white chocolate chips for the coating. for some reason they would just not melt smooth. the lumps in the white chocolate stayed even after i added a LOT of shortening! i was trying to get it to smooth out more so it would be easier to dip and i added some water. boy was that a HUGE mistake! the white chocolate curdled up and became all lumpy. i tried dipping a ball in it to see if it would still taste good but it wasn't. i ended up with a huge mess and no cake balls :'(. if i do this recipe again i will make sure to follow the reviews 100% and dont use whipped icing or white choc chips!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
These were really good!!! I took them to work and they were gone in about an hour or so! I made two batches but I ended up only using 1 cup of brown sugar. I think they would have been a little too sweet with as much as the recipe calls for. Really good and easy to make I would definately do this again!!

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
These are very gooey and chewy and delicious!! They always come out perfect. I like to add chocolate chips to them which makes them REALLY tasty, but then I guess they're not vegan anymore.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
I followed the suggestions of other viewers by decreasing the brown sugar to 1/2 cup, soaking the raisins, increasing the cinnamon to 1 tsp, and mixing the dough by hand. The recipe doesn't specify which kind of rolled oats to use. So I used the Quaker 100% whole wheat old fashioned rolled oats. The cookies were wayyy to oaty. My boyfriend said they were "decent" and tasted like eating a granola bar, and he was being nice. They were dry and crunchy and difficult to eat. I dont think I will be making these again.

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
These are actually really good and really easy and they do taste like cheesecake. However, I don't know what recipe they were using when they took those pictures because the tops of mine were yellow! I also agree with the other people about doubling the filling. They're good if you are craving cheesecake but don't feel like making it. I wouldn't take them to the office or anything because they don't look like cheesecake with the yellow. As well as the one following the recipe, I made another one with tofutti cream cheese and soymilk and it was just as good!

Shortbread Cookies II

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
These are really excellent! they are nice and crispy and sweet. Only thing that might make them better is maybe a little salt. I cut the recipe into fourths and it still made a good bit.

Banana Bars

Reviewed: May 13, 2010
I used margarine instead of shortening and soymilk instead of regular milk and cut out the nuts. They tasted really good, but they were more like cake than bar cookies. They seemed to turn a little brown after sitting out for a while so they probably need to be refrigerated.

Almost makes you not want to buy the box! These turned out very good. They were nice and chewy and packed with chocolate chips. No doubt they were gone in a couple days! Very tasty!
