Lori's White Bread Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
I used Splenda instead of the sugar, as it was for a friend of mine who cannot have sugar. I would have given this recipe only 2 stars, except that maybe it would have been different had I used actual sugar and also, while I was sorely disappointed, my friend loved it. It was the heaviest, most dense cake I have ever had. It was like a brick. I figured with the shortening, eggs and buttermilk, it would be very moist but it was not. I'm not sure how I would change it to improve it but I don't think I'll even be trying.

Sausage and Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
I made this for Christmas morning brunch for my family this year. Everyone loved it! I had added minced onion and freshly ground pepper to it as the recipe seemed a bit bland for my folks. I am sure it will be a recurring meal in our home!

Oatmeal Pudding Cookies

This is a very moist cookie but I was disappointed in the lack of flavor. I may try it again with some added ingredients such as cinnamon, apple pie spice, nutmeg, etc. I could see it being very moist AND flavorful! It has potential...

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
I absolutely LOVE this recipe! The bread comes out so moist! I did change how much cinnamon and ginger I use. I use 1-1/2 t. of cinnamon and 1/2 t. of ginger to give it a little more spice as I felt the original recipe was just a little too mild for my taste. Sometimes I put chopped walnuts in a loaf or two and that is quite good! I've also thrown some raisins in. It is a great recipe because you can change it up in so many quick and easy ways!
