Beginner Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
Made this even more flavorful by using the juices from a whole roasted chicken instead of bouillon and water. Baked at 375 for 35 minutes instead of on stove. Thanks for a great basic recipe I'll keep around.

Kiki's Borracho (Drunken) Beans

Amazing. Perfect. I made two small modifications: added two packets of Sazon Goya and used cilantro from a jar (Goya) instead of fresh. Delicious!

White Chocolate Cheesecake with White Chocolate Brandy Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
I made this with sour cream instead of heavy cream (I had forgotten to buy the cream) and didn't make the sauce. I used a 12oz bag of white chocolate chips, melting about 2/3 of it to blend into the cream cheese mixture, and stirring in the rest of the chips whole. I know that's a lot of modification, but I wanted to share. It was delicious!

Puppy Chow

Gross! So sweet and addictive, but the men in my life love it, so 4 stars :) I made it as written, except I also added 1/4 cup real unsalted butter.

Easy Peachy Cobbler Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
Delicious, only four stars because it has no redeeming nutritional value. But it's dessert, so maybe that's not fair :) I made it just as written, except I had a can of peaches in heavy syrup, so I omitted the sugar.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Perfect as is, but after the first time I added a can of refried beans and a chipotle bouillon cube. Now it tastes like the soup in local Mexican restaurants.

Fiesta Turkey Tavern

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Made this recipe as written, using powdered chipotle seasoning in place of chili powder. My picky 10 yr old ate it in a tortilla, and my husband liked it on a bun with barbecue sauce. Overall a hit, and I will be adding this to our rotation. Thanks!

Kickin Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Okay, but not so great. Too much sausage and not enough cheese. I don't think that changing the ratios would help. I chopped up the leftovers and used them to spice up some enchiladas.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
Wonderful! It is true that you can use water instead of milk, but milk makes the bread more moist. Also, I don't want to try to make these "diet cinnamon buns", of course, but we enjoyed them thoroughly without any icing.

Monster Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Perfect exactly as written! I use an ice cream scoop when making these as gifts, and it makes exactly 3 dozen big, pretty cookies. I bake the big ones for 15 minutes and let them rest on the pan before removing them to wire racks. Oh, and I never have margarine, so I use 1 cup butter instead.

Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
My husband had already had a similar style of sloppy joes at a friend's house and came home raving about it. So, I used these amounts as a guideline, realizing that it's much easier to add more later if I needed to. I used only 1 cup of ketchup, 1/2 cup of relish, and 1/4 cup brown sugar. It tasted great; both husband and son loved it.

Bacon and Bourbon Thanksgiving Stuffing

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
This was a good stuffing. The bourbon is noticeable but not too overbearing. As for the conversation about sogginess: I agree that it pays to use commonsense when using a new recipe, but there was twice as much liquid as I needed in this recipe!
