Homemade Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Delicious! I was concerned at first, but it turned out lovely. Here's some hints I found useful: if using dried instead of fresh basil, use only four teaspoons. I also found that I didn't need the 1/4 cup water, and added used two tablespoons whole wheat flour rather than one all purpose. Also, you can just use a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes, and if you want to save some calories, only use one teaspoon margarine rather than a tablespoon butter, and omit the oil. It will still taste great.

Carrot Burgers

I used dried, minced onion instead and it was delicious! Now, my mother asks for me to make these for dinner. Now that's a compliment!

Almond Biscotti

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2010
It was lovely! I was upset to find that I didn't have any almonds on me, so substituted 1/2 teaspoon almost extract, and my boyfriend still raved and asks me to make it again. Thanks!

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
I made this for my friend while she was visiting, and she barely took one bite before going "MMMM!". Definitely a keeper.

McCormick® Gingerbread Men Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
While not a fan of gingerbread myself, everyone who tried one of these LOVED them! I baked a basket for my boyfriend's family, and even his younger brother made a point to mention how good they were. I'll definitely be making these again next Christmas.

Freezer Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
My mother loved this, and made a point to tell me how delicious it was. As a tip, for extra flavor, instead of using 2 cups of water, I used 2 cups of vegetable broth. Yum! UPDATE: I want to stress that you DO NOT need the broth to eat this soup. To keep the sodium out and make it healthier, I just made it with water the last few times, and loved it! Trust me, you're not missing out on anything by just using water, and you're saving yourself some serious salt content.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
Delicious! I didn't change a thing and though I was initially concerned about the thinness of the batter, it baked beautifully. My visiting friend ate four of these (I made them into cupcakes) in under two minutes. I will definitely be making this again.

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
Delicious! Here's the thing: you don't need to use french bread. You can use any kind. I used two hamburger buns that I had leftover. I cut them up, sautéed them with 1/2 teaspoon garlic as I didn't have a clove on me, and then baked as directed. Will definitely be making these again.

Sunday's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
Let me tell you something: I made this pie for my boyfriend's family, and his father said that it was better than his mother's (my boyfriend's grandmother's) pie. That's all that needs to be said for how great this pie is.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
The most awesome thing about this recipe is the fact that it's customizable. I didn't have honey or wheat germ on hand, so I substituted molasses and flax seed. It was still delicious! I will definitely be making these again.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
My boyfriend and mother LOVED this recipe (and that's a high compliment from the boyfriend, who usually hated meatloaf). Also, this recipe reheats great in the microwave, so there is no wasting leftovers.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
While I personally am not a fan of oatmeal cookies, my family loved these! As a note, if you don't have the shortening, you can just use another 1/2 cup of butter - you'll be fine. I also omitted the raisins, as I didn't have any on hand, but I heard no complaints. Yum!

Banana Smoothie I

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
Delicious! And I omitted the egg! There's something very ice-creamy about this smoothie to me. The reason for the egg omission was only because the idea of drinking a raw egg just turns my stomach the wrong way, but even without it, I loved this recipe! Will definitely be making this again.

Definitely a very delicious bread. I took MommyFromSeattle's advice. I halved the oil with skim milk, which makes it healthier. Thanks for the advice!

White Almond Wedding Cake

DELICIOUS! I made this cake for my birthday, didn't change a thing about the recipe and everyone LOVED it! I can't tell you how many people wanted three or four pieces. If making this, be prepared to have a lot on hand!

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Delicious! But I found a few more ways to cut some of the calories off. First, I didn't use any oil (I just put the onion in the water/chicken broth mixture) and since I had no canned tomatoes on hand, simply used two small chopped ones. I still found it delicious, and have made it two times more since.

Microwave Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
Delicious, but BE CAREFUL. The first batch I made turned out perfectly. I used a glass pyrex bowl, followed the instructions for my 700 watt microwave and all was well. The second batch, I microwaved everything in my tubberware bowl. BIG MISTAKE. It completely melted through the bottom of the bowl so not only did I ruin my bright yellow bowl, but I couldn't eat the brittle either as melted plastic was contaminating it. So, be warned. Use glass bowls.

Old-Fashioned Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Delicious! I used flour instead of cornstarch and skim milk and it was still fantastic. Probably my new favourite dessert. Here is a tip though: when you add the egg, STIR FAST! If you don't, it will start to cook and trust me, it's disgusting to deal with.
