Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
I was sick when I made this so I couldn't tast it at all. My husband and kids loved this and have asked me to make it again. BTW- followed the recipe exactly EXCEPT that I used a whole FROZEN chicken and cooked on high for 8 hours. Plenty juicy, I just couldn't taste it because I was so stuffy :(. Looking forward to making it again and being able to taste it!

Simple Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
Meat tasted good but it was so mushy I ended up making Salisbury Beef Stroganoff. It turned into a meat sauce for me. Won't use this one again.

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
Pretty good but I modified it as well: 1ts. salt 3/4ts. garlic 1.5c cheese 2TB butter 1/2c parmesan 1/2c sour cream and i used evaporated milk instead of water. Next time I will follow my recipe but I will use green onions and I think with all of that- it will end up a 5 start recipe.

Corn Tortillas

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2010
I thought for sure after the reviews I'd find a way to mess these up but I didn't. My dough started rather dry and crumbly so I added drops of water a couple of drops at a time until the dough stuck together WITHOUT sticking to my hands. I don't have a press so I pressed them between pieces of parchment, flattening them with the bottom of a pan, then rolling them to the desired thickness with a rolling pin. I used a teflon pan as I have a comal but it doesn't do me any good on this lousy sealed electric stove top (Oh, how I've missed gas these past 6 years) and I had no problem, they turned out fine. Lastly, I made sure they went straight from the pan to a bowl with a lid and they were perfect! I will never again buy store bought.

Pretty good but like others, next time I'll do equal parts vinegar. I personally will also cut back on the oregano.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
AWESOME! I followed the recipe exactly- I only changed the cooking method. I threw 4 frozen thighs into my slow cooker and cooked it on high for 4.5 hours. It was fall off the bone, moist perfection! Oh and by the way. . . . I don't do honey mustard ANYTHING and I thought these were amazing! I did remove the juices from the slow cooker and put it on the fire with flour to make it a gravy. I used the gravy not just on the chicken but on the brussels sprouts we had with the chicken. I Highly recommend this recipe AS WRITTEN!!!!!!!!

Limeade

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
I used 12 small lemon-sized limes and it still wasn't enough. If I can find limes this large again, I'll try it with 15 or more next time. I don't think this is a very good recipe as written.

White Wine Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
I also added the dijon mustard, for the oil I did use 1/3 cup but made up evenly of extra virgin and extra light olive oil. This dressing was PERFECT for my gorgonzola and candied pecan salad! All of the reviewers that said the dressing was too tangy or had too much vinegar. . .I really think they used too much on their salads because this dressing is perfect once the dijon mustard is added. TIP: I used a handheld mixer in a glass and this dressing never seperated on me.

Roasted Asparagus with Herbes de Provence

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
Hmmmm. Well, be sure you like herbes de Provence before using them first of all. I like them, most of my family did not. I cooked these in a lidded pan with butter NOT oil. While I did like these, next time I will also add a bit of garlic. I like this the way it's written but with butter instead of oil.

Creme Fraiche Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
I used butter not oil. I liked this a lot, it has a very light, subtle flavor. The only complaint I had from family was that they would have liked for it to be saucier. I don't think that would hurt it at all so the next time I make it, I will make more sauce. I also used homemade creme fraiche as I honestly think it is not only less expensive than store bought, but tastes a whole lot better. Buon appetito!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Second time's a charm, I guess. This was pretty good- I have had better but this was certainly worth making and I'll make it again. I added about 1/4 cup cheddar cheese after tasing it before the add, only because I thought it would enhance it a bit. I think the next time I make this, I will saute the onion, celery, and ham, and I will try to incorporate some white wine. Great base recipe for broader horizons, though!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
I thought this was great! I did add a bit of balsamic vinegar but that was it. I think next time instead of cutting the O.O. like some people suggested, I'll leave it as the recipe calls for. I also browned the chops first, put them in partially frozen, cooked on low for 3 hours, then left them on the warm cycle for 4-5 hours. They came out moist and delicious. I will definitely be using this recipe over and over again!
