Original Homemade Italian Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
I made this recipe just as stated, only I had a larger cut of chuck roast. I used 3 packets of the dressing and I added a whole jar, juice and all, of the peppers. I added just a little water, and cooked it all day on low. It tasted great, not too salty. The peppers just smashed into the meat easily. I wouldn't recommend using the juice because it was very greasy, but maybe if you chilled it and scraped off the fat, it might be better. It is easy, not too spicy, and both my kids don't complain when I make it.

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This cake is awesome. Yes, it is sweet, and it is supposed to be. Do not cut back on any of the ingredients. It is a nice and easy cake to make when you are asked to bring a dessert. It is plain, yet different, and tastes great.

Coffee Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
I have been making these for a few years, since I found the recipe on this site. They are really good, easy to make, and even kids like them. I toast the almonds a little longer,so they are a dark-golden brown. The last time I made them, I tried freezing them until a later date, and they came out fine. The freezing didn't harm the nuts or cookie at all. This recipe is a keeper!

Slow Cooker Italian Sausage Subs

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
This was so good. I am not a green pepper fan, so I added a jar of drained peppercinis. I put the sausages on the grill for about 10 minutes and then threw everything in the slow cooker. I ran around, taking kids to after school activities and when we got home, the sausages were done. I served them on sub rolls with a slice of mozzarella cheese. I used fresh store brand Italian sausages, but any kind should work. I might use turkey Italian sausages next time.

Slow ' N' Easy Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I made this chili the other day. It was very easy to make. The house smelled good while it cooked. Unfortunately the chili had a bad bitter aftertaste. I am not sure which ingredient caused the bitterness. I will search on for another easy chili recipe for my slow cooker.

Anna's Amazing Easy Pleasy Meatballs over Buttered Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
This sure was easy to make. I had never bought frozen meatballs from the store before, and I thought it would make this meal easier. The flavor of the sauce was awesome, but my family hated the meatballs(they were the name brand too). I will make this again, using my own meatballs.

Tasty Toothpick Appetizers

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
I wasn't quite sure how these would come out, but I had to try something new and different. My daughter and I assembled these and we had no idea what to expect. When we finished the tray, they looked really nice. We each tried one and watched eachother's face. They were good!! All the different flavors compliment eachother nicely. Some of my Thanksgiving guests refused to try one, but the ones that did really liked these. I recommend everyone give this a try.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I was skeptical, but I needed a slow cooker recipe for a busy day. I followed the recipe. It came out awesome. I wound up cooking it longer, and it was not dried out. I did not add any liquid and it created quite a bit. The onion soup did not taste overpowering(although it smelled overpowering), or artificial. The onion soup mix made the skin look brown, giving the illusion of a roasted turkey. Looking forward to sandwiches today!

Best Black Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
What a great way to 'doctor' up some canned black beans. I also drained the beans and added some chicken broth. I used chopped red onion and fresh cilantro. I simmered the beans for about 20 minutes and they were nicely thickened. The spices were just right...not too spicy, but flavorful. I loved these. My teenage children didn't want to try them....their loss.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
I thought this chicken was pretty good. I really couldn't taste the ranch or the teryaki glaze, but together they gave the chicken a good flavor. I used precooked microwave bacon because I already had it. It is easy to make. When you get tired of preparing the same few chicken recipes over and over, give this a try.

Dorm Room Chili Mac

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
Keep these ingredients in your pantry for when you forget to defrost something for dinner. I used Kraft Dinner and Hormel chili without beans, and topped it with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. My family loves this one.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
I thought this was pretty good, for something different. It was easy to put together. I baked it a little longer, but it was still kind of "mushy" towards the middle of the loaf. The kids ate it and said it tasted good.

Butter Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
These were awesome! I used bread crumbs because I didn't have the crackers in the house. I think next time I will use green chilis instead of the jalapeno pepper. Mine held together beautifully. This is a great meal that you can whip up if you forgot to defrost something for dinner.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I made this recipe just as written. It is excellent. It came out of the bundt pan like a dream. It is so moist and chocolatey. I have made it using name-brand cake mix or store brand and there is no difference. Easy and yummy!

Chanukah Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
This is the exact recipe I grew up with. The recipe was on the lid of the box of my mom's Chanukah cookie cutters. They are good cookies if you like crispy cookies to dunk in your tea. My mom always sprinkled the cookies with blue colored sugar before baking. I find this dough a pain to work with. It is too sticky and then if you add more flour it ruins the taste.

Heart-y Antioxidant Almond Snack Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
This is really good, for a healthy alternative for the usual snack mix. Karen, almond butter is like peanut butter, but made with almonds instead. I buy mine at Trader Joe's.

Nacho Chip Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
With some seasoning in the meat mixture, this came out pretty good. I added cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and paprika. The mushroom soup doesn't really add much flavor, but it acts more of a binder so the meat stays together in a sauce. I'll bet sour cream would do the trick also. I used shredded cheese blend of cheddar and pepperjack. It went over well with the kids. Reheated, it still tasted good, but the chips were soggy.

Amy's Spicy Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
The family LOVES this recipe. I use the amounts of seasoning that we like. I have never added the black olives because the kids just don't like them. Sometimes I add some precooked chipotle monterey jack chicken sausage. The beans and rice create a very filling meal.
