Ann's Dirty Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
My husband and I didn't care for this recipe. I followed the recipe exactly, and we both thought that it was very bland. We added Old Bay (after tasting it with just the ingredients that were called for) to make it a little more flavorful, but that didn't seem to help a lot. We won't be making this recipe again.

Chicken And Rice L'Orange

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2010
This recipe is wonderful. It transforms boring chicken breasts into a gourmet meal with very little work involved. I left out the almonds and onions (my husband does not like them), but other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. The rice tasted amazing; it was such a nice complement to the chicken. I will be making this again and again--especially for guests, as it is sure to impress.

Cream Cheese Jalapeno Hamburgers

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
This recipe created the best burgers I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The only change I made was that I mixed the cream cheese and jalapeno mixture in with the ground beef instead of putting it in the center of the patties. I made these in a frying pan, so to make sure the burgers didn't fall apart, I turned the heat up to high at first to seal in the cream cheese. After a few seconds I turned down the heat, and the patties held together nicely. I will be making these burgers very often! Thanks, Noelle!

Easiest Pot Roast Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
I just made my first pot roast ever by following this recipe, and it was a hit! I left out the celery, because my husband doesn't like it, and I omitted the beef bouillon cubes as well because I didn't have any on hand. But even with these omissions, the pot roast tasted fabulous. I think I did overcook mine a little bit, as it was a bit dry, but the flavor was amazing, so the dryness wasn't very noticeable. I will be using this recipe again in the future.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This is a delicious recipe. After being in the slow cooker for a few hours, the chicken was tender and very easy to shred. After I shredded it, I put it back into the slow cooker for another two hours, and the result was tender, juicy chicken. I didn't have dry ranch salad dressing mix on hand, so I added a bit of actual ranch dressing instead. I highly recommend this recipe. It's so simple to make, yet so delicious.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
This recipe is one of my favorites. It is packed with deliciousness! I used lean ground turkey instead of ground beef, mozzarella cheese instead of provolone and omitted the garlic cloves (I didn't have any on-hand). The meatballs were a little dry, so next time I may add two eggs instead of one and I will let the meatballs simmer in the spaghetti sauce for a bit longer. I recommend this recipe to everyone!

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
My husband and I loved this recipe. I substituted Splenda for the white sugar, and omitted the confectioners sugar topping. It was still delicious. My husband usually doesn't eat breakfast, but he could not resist this danish when he smelled it baking in the oven. I will make this recipe again and again!

Home-Style Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
This was a really easy soup to make, and very tasty. Instead of adding fresh vegetables, I added two cans of No Salt Added Veg All to save time. This makes a lot of soup, so I will be freezing some of it for a quick meal on a cold night.

Cajun Pasta Fresca

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
I made this recipe without modifications, and I just did not like it very much. I usually love pasta, but this recipe completely lacked flavor in my opinion. For those of you looking who are looking for a really delicious, simple pasta recipe, look for the zucchini pasta recipe on this site. That one has been a winner for my family. This one, however, was a huge letdown. I won't be making it again.

Beefy Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This dish had a decent flavor--similar to meatloaf--but my husband and I didn't think that the flavor was worth the amount of time it took to prepare. This is not a difficult recipe by any means, but it is a little time consuming. It takes a while to make the rice tender. In fact, if I had to make this recipe again (which I never will) I would cook the rice according to the package directions before adding it to the mixture. I think that would decrease the overall cooking time. This recipe was also very messy. For those of you who are planning on making it, use a VERY deep frying pan or a wok--otherwise your ingredients will be on the range instead of in the pan. Here's some strong advice: Make meatloaf instead. You will achieve a similar flavor with less mess and you won't be standing by the oven all night.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
I am a big fan of cinnamon bread, and let me tell you, this bread is delicious! It is so moist and has just the right amount of sweetness. Like other reviewers, I mixed the dry and liquid ingredients separately, and then combined them just until the dry ingredients were moist. I modified the recipe to make it healthier. I used whole wheat flour, Splenda, applesauce in place of the oil, 1 1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1 cup of milk (I didn't have buttermilk on hand) and I added raisins. The final product was so good. This bread makes a great breakfast bread. I will definitely make it again.
