Old Fashioned Prune Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2005
I made this cake for my 3 year old daughter, desperate as I was to get her to eat more fiber. I only did 1/2 a recipe, making them into muffins. Plumped up the prunes by simmering them in 1/2 cup water for three minutes, and then mashed them with a fork. The cupcakes baked in 20 minutes. Aside from that, I followed the recipe to the letter. This is TERRIFIC prune cake, so soft and so moist. Bake this! You won't regret it.

A Number One Egg Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2001
Egg breads are my favorite kinds of breads to make, which is why I found this recipe so irresistible. It's super easy to make because the dough is so workable and smooth. Just don't rush the rising times. I made this into rolls instead of loaves and they were good. Excellent with jam or cream cheese.

Neiman Marcus Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2001
I had high hopes for this recipe after reading all the reviews. They were all right - this cake is very rich and very good. Everyone loved it. I thought that it was just okay, since it tastes like a cream cheese brownie, and I don't particularly like cream cheese brownies. If you really want to get the cake experience with this recipe, I'd recommend baking it in a 9-inch round cake or springform pan. The brown and white looks good together and it makes for a tall cake.

Wacky Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2001
This is the first time I've made and tasted a Wacky Cake. Someone recommended it to me, and this was the recipe she sent. This is an easy cake to make, and it fills the kitchen with a dreamy chocolate cake smell. It's good and moist, and will fulfill any sudden chocolate cravings you may have. My only problem was with the icing. I followed the recipe to a T, but my icing came out gritty, like sand. But don't let this deter you. The cake is good without the icing.

Turtles® Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2001
This is a quick and easy pie to make. The caramel that is called for in this recipe with the brown sugar, condensed milk, and Karo syrup is quite versatile and can be used for other caramel needs. I only made half the recipe, and it chilled quickly and was delicious. The only thing I would recommend is cutting the caramel by 1/4 because what happens is that it overpowers the pie crust and the chocolate topping. Also, instead of using a regular pie crust, I made a chocolate cookie crust. Yum!

Decadent Turtles® Pie

Reviewed: May 6, 2001
I agree with some of the other members' reviews. There's an ingredient missing in the recipe that will serve to bind the cake together. I also had to resort to freezing the cake just so that it would set. Also, I recommend omitting the sugar, since the cookie crust is sweet enough without it. Lastly, there's too much condensed milk called for here, which overpowers the cream cheese.
