Zippy Barbecue Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
It was a little bland as written, but I added another tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons of mustard, and it was great.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
This was just ok for me - the batter was really wet, so it took a long time to cook, which was inconvenient, and the taste wasn't good enough to make up for that.

Lime Glazed Leg of Lamb

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2013
I don't have a grill so I cooked this in the oven, basted it frequently and reduced the remaining limeade mixture to serve as a sauce over the lamb. It was very tender and flavorful, and I did really like the lime flavor, but the limeade was too sugary for me and my husband. I think next time I make this I will use lime juice and a little bit of honey instead of the limeade, but I will definitely be making it again!

Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
This cake turned out very moist and rich. I made it in a 10-inch round cake pan so it was about 3 inches thick and some people said it was too rich...I think they just don't like chocolate enough :)

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
These were really tasty - fluffy on the inside and a little bit crispy on the outside. I usually put butter on my pancakes and these were so moist that I didn't need to at all. I did double the amount of blueberries, and I think they might have been a little bland if I hadn't done that. My husband wants me to make them as waffles next time, and I think they will be great that way too.

Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2012
This is really good soup! I followed the recipe except I used crushed red pepper instead of hot sauce, because that's what I had. For anyone thinking of leaving out the "thickening"...don't! If you follow the directions and actually cook the butter/flour mixture until it is browned, it adds a wonderful rich flavor as well as acting as a thickener.

Brownie Cups

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
I made these with pecans instead of walnuts, baked them in mini muffin tins (which took 12-14 minutes) and topped them with caramel icing. They were a huge hit and I will definitely be making them again.

Raspberry Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2012
These are amazingly tasty. I made them as directed except I used real whipped cream instead of frozen whipped topping. The brownie part was moist and rich, the fudge topping was perfect, and the cream cheese in the frosting gave it just enough tanginess to keep it from being cloyingly sweet. The only thing I will change in the future is either adding raspberry flavoring to the frosting or using raspberry flavored chips in the brownies, as I would have liked more raspberry flavor.

Slow Cooker Blackberry Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
I was feeling lazy so I put some extra wine in the slow cooker and skipped making the sauce. It was still amazing!

Seared Scallops with Jalapeno Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2012
I thought the dressing was interesting, but it lacked the zip I was expecting based on the name - I tasted rice vinegar more than anything else.

Basil Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2012
I had some leftover basil the other day after making pesto, so I thought I would try this recipe. I put it on some bread the night I made it, and it was pretty good. On impulse, I just put a couple of tablespoons into a pan of squash I was cooking, and it smelled so good I burned my mouth because I couldn't wait to eat it! Now that it's cooled off some, it's the best squash I've ever had. I'm going to put this in EVERYTHING :)

Pineapple Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
I used this cake as a base for pina colada cupcakes. Based on other reviews I added 1 tsp baking powder. I left out the nuts, and I drained the pineapple then only added half of the juice because I wanted to use a rum glaze so I didn't want the cake to be too wet. It turned out fantastic - I actually liked the cupcakes better without the coconut frosting I made; they were very moist and pineapple-y!

Home Made Top Tarts!

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
These were really simple to make and tasted great. I used raspberry jam for the filling, only made half the amount of frosting (which was plenty to frost them all) and used jasmine flavoring (from an asian food store) instead of vanilla, which gave them a more "adult" twist vs. regular pop tarts.

Chicken Puffs

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
These are my new go-to party food. I just made them for a holiday party, and they were gone twice as quickly as anything else. People were raving about them all night!

Calico Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I thought this was pretty good...personally I would probably give it 3 stars, but a lot of people at my party said they really liked it. I thought it was missing something; I might use salsa rather than plain tomatoes if I make it again.
