Just a girl in DC and one of the only people of my group who doesn't think a woman cooking extends a negitive image on feminism. All people should learn how to cook. It's survival! And enjoyable ^_^.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, soups, stews, and any recipe where I get to use a skillet! I love hands on and the spur of the moment desicions you have to make over a gas stove.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fourth of July!! The whole family comes from all over the east coast bringing the best homemade has to offer!! It's an excuse to make garlic potatoes, apple pie, grilled corn in the husk, and saute some onion and sweet carrot.
My cooking triumphs
I don't know if it's a triumph, but my toaster oven is magic... I'm usually in a bind when I decide to use it, but nothing I put in it ever comes out as the food I intended it to be. I baked sugar cookies and got scones.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count... But then again every time I fail I learn the importance of certian recipe elements. Baking is a precise chemestry, especially with baked goods like cake. Stove top cooking is more about timing and artisry. You've got some room for error.
