Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
This was good! Truth be told, my kids didn't meet any mac and cheese they didn't like, but this was creamy, tasty topping, not too hard to make and pleasing for the adults also. Great recipe, thanks for sharing.

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
Not as great as it sounds. Edible, as any pork in the slow cooker turns tender after 8h, but the mustard really did not come through - 1 tsp in 1/2 cup of flour, and most of it is left in the pan. Certainly easy enough to make, but I see no point to browning the pork with the flour coating first, might as well just throw in the pot. I am not sure the chicken rice soup worked that well either.

Hearty Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
Low fat and healthy indeed, but rather low on taste also. This blend of vegetables needs a lot more spices to liven up. My family grumbled a bit but ate it nonetheless so it was not that bad after all.

Bacon, Potato, and Egg Taco Ole

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
A very nice breakfast but a bit bland for our taste, and I missed the cheese.

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
It was definitely delicious, but condensed beef broth is not easy to find! My supermarket didn't have it so I used regular and the sauce came out a bit runny. Slightly bland but very tender.

Chicken Quesadillas and Fiesta Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
This was so good and easy to make! I don't know what condensed chicken broth is, nor does the supermarket have it, so I made the rice with regular chicken broth, and it all turned out yummy. Don't leave it in the oven more than 5 min because the tortillas will be too crispy.

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This is a keeper. Very light, delicate flavor and apetizing texture. I used dried ginger instead of fresh and curry powder instead of paste. Will make again.

Slow Cooker Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This was too good for words! I made it as written, except for using 3 lbs of spare ribs instead of 2. Tender, flavorful and delicious so if you don't have a high risk of heart disease - get cooking!

Cowboy Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I thought it tasted a bit like from a can (partly it was) but the family LOVED it - got raving reviews from 4 out of 4. It was flavorful and filling.

Apple Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
Good but bland. Only our children under the age of 5 liked it as written, because it has the bland, comforting taste of baby food. My husband and I saved it with garlic powder, creole seasoning and cumin powder.

Creamy Spaghetti Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
I made too many substitutions and additions to count, but it turned out delicious. I am giving it 5 stars because I am sure it would have been better with parm cheese (I used shredded cheddar + mozzarella). Will make again - with parmesan!

Chili Rellenos Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
This was great! I snuck in some jalapenos which I shouldn't have and the dish turned out too spicy for my family, but I enjoyed it and next time I will make it as written :)

Triple-Cheese Broccoli Puff

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
This was so so. Not a lot of flavor - tastes like a big omelet. I would suggest trying with half the quantities.

Meat Lover's Pizza Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
This was to die for! I used more meat, more pepperoni, more pepper, added onions and mushrooms so it turned out a bit heavy, but delicious nonetheless. I agree with the other reviewers that you can toss in whatever ingredients you like. You can't go wrong with this one!

Deviled Ham Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
This was good, maybe not 5 stars good but definitely worth trying. I thought there was a bit too much dough and too little topping - I'd double the topping or halve the dough if I were to make it again.

Potato Soup VII

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Delicious, but labor intensive so do yourself a favor and use bacon bits from a bag. The quantities might be a little off, because I halved everything and still had a LOT more than 4 servings. I don't think I'll make it again just because it takes too long, but the taste is perfect! Enjoy :)

Broccoli Bean Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Not sure the flavors went well together - the garbanzo beans felt a bit out of place - but everybody ate up so it couldn't have been that bad :) I added some american cheese (kept the parm) and didn't have any cornstarch but the sauce was thick nonetheless so I doubt you even need it. A nice variation on mac and cheese.

Portuguese Bean Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
I didn't put the whole cayenne pepper because we are not huge fans of very spicy food, but it was a very nice meal. You really can't go wrong with the chorizo sausage :) I thought the cooking time was too short, so I simmered it for half hour. I also used 5 potatoes and a whole pound of sausage and halved the cayenne.

Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
I agree with the contributor who said this was a little bland, but when you have kids that is not necessarily a bad thing. I had mine with salsa. Everybody had seconds and there were no leftovers. I replaced both the mozarella and cheddar with mexican cheese mix.

Greek Spaghetti

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
I made some changes suggested by someone here, plus some of my own, and this turned out excellent! The children didn't guess it had spinach in it. I used fresh spinach, I caramelized the onions then slightly cooked the celery and green pepper too, I skipped the mayo and doubled the sour cream, I omitted the bread crumbs. I didn't have lemon pepper so I used pepper, garlic salt and creole seasoning. The parm topping was delicious!
