I've always been able to avoid any major cooking until recently. Now, I am pretty much on my own as far as that goes. My guy wants me to move in with him, but he also thinks I should be able to cook for him, since he works longer days than I do. I can cook a few things (I am not totally pathetic), but sometimes it's not worth the bother when it's usually just me that I am cooking for. Anyway, don't tell him, but he does have a point... it would be cheaper to cook my meals than hit the drive thru all the time.
My favorite things to cook
I've gotten to be a pretty good baker. I have a few cookie recipes that people love! My chocolate chip cookies (which I took from Hersheys and tweaked very slightly), Oatmeal raisin cinnamon chip, sugar cookies and Peanut Butter cookies are all highly sought after by my fellow co-workers.
I am proud to say that I am getting braver with my spaghetti and have been able to do more than just brown the beef and throw sauce on it! I can saute now!!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma never had much patience, so she only cooked what she could whip up quickly. My mom makes just about everything. Not sure how Mom managed to raise 4 girls and none of them really picked up on the cooking thing.
My cooking triumphs
I found a recipe for Baked Spaghetti Casserole and have changed it around several times. Everyone seems to like it too!!
My cooking tragedies
I wanted to show my guy that I am capable of making a few things, so I made up a stuffed pepper casserole. To be fancy, I covered it with mozzarella & set it on the stove while the oven was warming. I left the kitchen for a brief moment and, when I came back, there was his dog gobbling it up! We had to through the rest of it out!!
