Me with my biggest fan
About this Cook
In March of 2009 I started my life over again as a mail order bride to a mine mechanic. I ran off to Arizona to be a mine wife and mom as well as a nursing student. Cooking has become my main hobby as a result of all my spare time. Jason is the biggest fan of my cooking ever.
My favorite things to cook
I bought a wok at Ikea and it turned out to be the best $20 I ever spent. I can finally make all those wonderful Asian dishes that I always loved in restaraunts. A good thing since we live in the middle of nowhere. I am getting known among the miners for my breads. We bought a grill last week and I am going to be experimenting with that for the rest of the summer.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I continue in my mother's foot steps by making bread.
My cooking triumphs
If it gets a pleasurable sigh from the eater, I consider it a victory.
My cooking tragedies
Two words, Gefelte Fish (Passover 2001).

Jalapeno Cheese Bread
This bread was delicious. I used 1 cup jalapenos and a small jar of pimentos for color and mixed in with the liquid ingredients. I kneaded the cheese in to it after it formed shaggy mass and baked in two round loves. Be careful that your pans are properly greased, my loves stuck and stuck badly. But it was my fault and no matter because it was so good.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These turned out excellent. Like the other reviews, I increased the flour and soda. I took a dozen and a half to the miners and they all got eaten. Best oatmeal chocolate chip cookie yet.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
This starter is excellent and very forgiving. I forgot to stir it one day and on the tenth day I wasn't ready to make any bread, so I fed it and let it sit until the next day. I froze some of the starter because I have no one to give any to. We'll see how it copes with that when I make another batch of friendship bread tomorrow.
