Iced Pumpkin Cookies
They DO spread. I put 15 cookies on one sheet, but they puffed and spread quite a bit so that they were all squished together. I did better with 8 cookies on a sheet. Because it's more of a batter than a dough, I had trouble flattening them without making a mess. What I finally did was refrigerate the batter then scoop each cookie directly into a custard cup filled with turbinado sugar. Then I flattened with the bottom of an orange juice glass. Since I don't like bothering with icing (even if it is good), I prefer adding turbinado sugar to give added sweetness and a nice crunch. Cookies are good, but I had to take away stars just because of the difficulty of having to come up with a system for flattening without a sticky mess. Oh yes: and 12 minutes was sufficient with a little time to cool on the cookie sheets first. Subbed 1/2 cup of the sugar for brown.

Salmon Chowder
As I was making this according to the recipe, I tasted it before adding the corn and cheese and thought it tasted fine just as it was. So I left it that way and my husband and I enjoyed it very much. (I did use fresh garlic instead of powder and added the liquid from the salmon. Probably used 2 1/2 to 3 cups of potatoes.)
