Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I've made this cake at least a dozen times over the last couple of years and taken it to lots of potlucks. Everyone loves this cake and it's so simple to make. Thank you for sharing it!

Fresh Apple Spice Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I love spice cake like none other and after moving I just didn't have enough room for all my apples I canned last year, so this sounded great to me. I didn't have any wheat flour so I just used all purpose instead and I did my spices more like I would for an apple pie. I also used some of my canned spiced apple cider instead of water - AMAZING FLAVOR!!! I also followed someone elses tip about baking it in a 9x13 pan (20 min @ 400 followed by 55 min @ 325). Turned out so delicious! Moist yet dense. A little milk/powered sugar glaze on top and it's so worth the effort. Wonderful for dessert or as a breakfast cake. Thanks for sharing!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
these remind me of the little debbie brownies that my sister is addicted to. very good, but very intense. I made mine as written minus the 1T honey (I just added an extra T of butter).

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
I followed the suggestion of others about the half/half white/brown sugar, I also used semi-sweet chocolate squares (melted) instead of chocolate chips. Lastly, we only had spread butter, so I used butter flavored crisco. All that said, these are quite yummy. They have that fudgy quality that makes a brownie a brownie. And they demanded that I go to the fridge and pour myself a glass of milk before I could even finish them. That's what makes them so good in my opinion. Thanks for the recipe- my sister's already asked me to make them again.

Rhubarb Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: May 15, 2013
I love a tangy, vinegar based bbq sauce. I love rhubarb and enjoy trying it in a new way every year in addition to the old favorites. This, is totally going to be an old favorite. I did not have Dr pepper or Worcestershire sauce on hand so I used a can of Pepsi and red wine vinegar instead. Delicious! Tangy, but not overpowering. Excellent on pulled pork sandwiches. I must stop at the store tonight to pick up some more rhubarb as well as the correct indigents to make more of this wonderful sauce for canning and use throughout the summer. Thank you so much for a completely different use and way of looking at the ‘pie plant’.
