About this Cook
Here`s what I have been cooking.. http://www.digitaljournal.com/group/146 Just before I moved out on my own, I started to express an interest in cooking mainly because I wanted to eat healthier and stop eating prepackaged meals. My mom always made home-cooked meals and never used prepackaged anything. I thank her so much for bringing me up on good well balance meals and therefore inspiring me to do it for myself, and one day my family. I just started my 30's and living with my boyfriend and my cooking has developed to a pretty good skill level. I keep learning new things, trying new things and just enjoy food in every possible way, from cooking it, to eating it, to watching others cook. I love the Food Network and this site for inspiring me in the kitchen. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love trying anything new. I love ethnic dishes and I also enjoy swapping fatty ingredients for healthier ones without sacrificing the taste. I also like tricking my guests with healthier recipes. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking for an army regardless of whether you're actually cooking for 3, 4 or 5 people - Having no room on the table (bread, side carb dish, main meat dish, veggie dish and a salad)and just being a loud Portuguese family around the dinner table. It's not a well mannered table but a very happy and satisfied one. :)
My cooking triumphs
Hosting my first turkey dinner and man-handling that massive beast of a bird. :) AND making home-made sushi that tasted AMAZING.
My cooking tragedies
Surprisingly I am still without a tragic event in the kitchen other than breaking glass, spilling flour...burning my fingers....etc...etc.

Sweet, Salty, Spicy Party Nuts
I realized I never reviewed these. This recipe is amazing. The only thing I have changed is what I put the sweet and spicy mix on...almonds, pecans, peanuts...I keep changing the mixture. Well and I add a bit more cayenne. I posted a picture of pumpkin seeds because I used this recipe for Halloween this year...the only difference with the seeds is that I cooked it for 30 mins. As others have said, do not let it cool on foil. So good!! As usual with Chef John's recipes. :)

Kale with Pine Nuts and Shredded Parmesan
Very good. I added garlic and onions because I love those 2 ingredients. Kale was really tasty and a nice change of a veggie side dish. Thanks for a simple and tasty recipe!
