About this Cook
I started cooking at age 14 out of necessity, both parents worked full time and if i didnt cook,my sisters and I were left to eat cereal or Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.I learned early on that i loved to cook and my family loved to eat my dishes...A cook was born!!!
My favorite things to cook
Homemade gourmet pizza, mediterranean dishes with lots of lemon,Grilled meats and vegetables with lotsa fresh herbs,Anything grown from my garden.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother only cooked on Sundays, when she did it was always a very large satisfying meal...I always looked forward to Sundays!!!
My cooking triumphs
Making homemade bread...from scratch without a bread machine at age 15.The house smelled so good...It was then i discovered I didnt like to bake too much. The bread was fabulous,It was just ALOT of work.LOL.
My cooking tragedies
Adding salt to a dish and discovering that the salt lid was not screwed on tight or even slightly tight...Ruined the whole thing...Had to start over.

Buffy's Refried Beans
OMG...This was by far the best and easiest refried bean recipe, ever!!!It tastes better than the mexican restaurant. Its not the clumped mess you get in the can-obviously!!I did not use lard but alittle bacon fat and mashed them with water to get the perfect consistancy.I also added some Southwest seasoning I recieved from a friend that visited San Antonio-TX..Suckle Busters Texas Gold Dust...AWESOME!!!!I will never go back to the CAN again!!!

Orzo and Tomato Salad with Feta Cheese
Absolutely AMAZING!!! Light and fresh.I used anchovy stuffed manzanilla olives and omitted the dill. Truly a great cool pasta salad. Will definitely make again. Lunch for tomorrow!!! Delish!!

Moroccan Lamb Kabobs
I was looking for a ground lamb recipe and absolutely loved the base ingredients...I omitted the raisins because I dont care much for them,I added rosemary instead of cilantro due to thats what I had on hand and prepared the mix in the morning and put them all together then chilled them all day in the fridge..That seemed to hold them together much easier..I also started them in foil on the grill and finished them directly on the grill~I was afraid they would fall apart!!Worked beautifully.Paired them with fresh tzatki sauce and cucumber and tomatoe salad with Pita on the side!!!Added to my Favorites!!Loved it!!!
