About this Cook
I love cooking and crocheting and am mostly self-taught in both. My love of cooking comes from my grandmother, who I used to spend every weekend with cooking and baking as a child.
My favorite things to cook
I used to be more about baking and have cut back a lot on the amount of sugar I eat and so, have moved onto cooking more instead. Can't say that I have a favorite thing to make, anything hands on is fun, pizza, sugar cookies, etc. But I enjoy making complicated dishes rather than easy ones sometimes. I feel you get out what you put in, & hard work pays off :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I kind of created my own tradition (for the past 4 years) of giving 12-15 jars of homemade jelly and loaves of bread as Christmas gifts.
My cooking triumphs
Any firsts always feel like triumphs, first roasted chicken/pork/beef, first candy. I also feel pretty proud each Christmas when all of my "gift giving goodies"(whatever they happen to be that year) are ready to go.
My cooking tragedies
Though I'm sure there are many, the first that comes to mind...The first time I tried to make blondies I scrambled the eggs (my butter & sugar was too hot!). I started trying to pick out the egg pieces but ended up tossing the whole thing out. :(

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
Yum! Used shortening for butter (what I had on hand) and skipped nuts (didn't have any). Also added a dash of cinnamon, 1/2c flour and 1tsp baking soda as per other reviews. Baked mine exactly 12min @ 335 for perfectly crispy edges and chewy middles :) definitely a keeper!

Chewy Chocolate Cookies I
These are delish! Made a half batch since there's only 2 of us. Added +/- extra 1/4c. flour as per others reviews also used shortening and a few tsp water for butter (what I had on hand). I accidentally added 1/4 tsp too much salt but it was surprisingly good, a sweet slightly salty a good accident in the end! :) Used half semisweet chocolate chips and 1/2 dark chocolate chips for the most deliciously chocolatey cookie ever! Important: you only bake them 9 min so you get that perfect chewy texture. Be careful not to overbake. Baked mine on parchment so I didn't have to wash the cookie sheet after and for easier removal. Definitely a keeper for the recipe box. Gonna try adding nuts next time or maybe switch chocolate chips for peanut butter awesome cookie either way!

Chicken Breasts with Herb Basting Sauce
Used frozen skinless, boneless (what I had on hand) which was good but will definitely try again with skin on, bone in chicken.
