I love cooking and crocheting and am mostly self-taught in both. My love of cooking comes from my grandmother, who I used to spend every weekend with cooking and baking as a child.
My favorite things to cook
I used to be more about baking and have cut back a lot on the amount of sugar I eat and so, have moved onto cooking more instead. Can't say that I have a favorite thing to make, anything hands on is fun, pizza, sugar cookies, etc. But I enjoy making complicated dishes rather than easy ones sometimes. I feel you get out what you put in, & hard work pays off :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I kind of created my own tradition (for the past 4 years) of giving 12-15 jars of homemade jelly and loaves of bread as Christmas gifts.
My cooking triumphs
Any firsts always feel like triumphs, first roasted chicken/pork/beef, first candy. I also feel pretty proud each Christmas when all of my "gift giving goodies"(whatever they happen to be that year) are ready to go.
My cooking tragedies
Though I'm sure there are many, the first that comes to mind...The first time I tried to make blondies I scrambled the eggs (my butter & sugar was too hot!). I started trying to pick out the egg pieces but ended up tossing the whole thing out. :(
