Baked Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
I couldn't measure 190g of flour so I used nearly 2 cups,1 cup of mashed roast pumpkin leftover from a roast pork dinner with some homemade apple sauce,I don't have baking soda so left that out and couldnt measure 6g so I put 2 teaspns of baking powder, instead of buttermilk I used 1/2 Cup milk with a little lemon juice,1/2 cup brown sugar(220g seemed alot if im claiming it to be healthy)I guessed cinnamon because I couldnt measure 2g I put 1 teaspn,1/2teaspn ground ginger and 1/4 teaspn ground cloves.I baked it in a loaf tin that is more like 8 1/2x4 1/2 Inches than 9x5 and it took about 35mins at 180C (not an hour).Looks and tastes good.I give the receipe 3 stars because I found I had to guess some of the quatities and so I felt I had to take a risk. It's our first try at pumpkin bread and I think it won't be our last.

Pear-a-dise Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
I chose this receipe because the yoghurt, honey and pear are healthy, yummy and so,ingredients that are often in my fridge!I had to take a bit of a risk(normally I am very cautious especailly when its my first time to make something)and use guess how to make them because I have no way to measure some of the quantities I see in alot of on this site like 6g,2g (I put in 3 teaspns of baking powder to nearly 2 cups of plain flour, I don't have baking soda so I leave that out instead of 235ml of canned pear(I grated two fresh pears)I used "greek style" natural yoghurt and tasmanian leatherwood honey. They turned out light and moist with delicate flavours.

Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
I used the remainder of a chinese cabbage I had and found it easy to roll up after I had microwaved the leaves for a few minutes. I used 250g ground pork,100g rice,i small onion and 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic.I added a teaspn or so of sweet paprika and a tin of tomatos (instead of the condensed soup)which i put through the blender with a teaspn of minced garlic. If I make it again I will be sure to add tomato paste because the flavours were quite bland.(my husband put tobasco sauce on his).I baked it in oven for hour and half at 200C.We ate the lot without extra rice or potato on the side.
