Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2014
The cake came out flat, dense and not very tasty. We ended up using the frosting for a lemon box cake instead.

Hot Tamale Pie

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
This is awesome and very yummy as is or with added ingredients. Made the first time as is except with 1 poblano and 1 orange pepper. I had never used Poblano peppers before but I loved the flavor. The second time made more changes to suite our family- added 1 can of black beans, diced 1/2 onion, added a 10.5 can of tomatoes (drained) and some chopped olives. We also used ground red pepper instead of the chipotle (just because I couldn't find any chipotle pepper). Our cook time was more like 40 min. Ate it with sour cream and even my picky eater liked it!!

Pumpkin Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
I made this the other day for a small get together and everyone loved it- they couldn't get over how moist it was. I had to use a 9x13 pan so ended up cooking it for about 40 min. but I think my oven runs cool. I placed tinfoil over the top for the last 10 min to cut down on browning and it turned out great, topped with a light layer of cream cheese frosting. A keeper for sure!

Orange Dream Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Everyone enjoyed this quite a bit. It was a bit sweet (to me) but tasted great. I've made it with ginger ale and 7-Up and both work great. I like using the rainbow sherbet more than just the orange, but either way it's yummy.

German Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
This was so good! I doubled the recipe for a birthday party, but don't think I needed to as it made 3 9x13 pans of cake. I had a little trouble with the cake sticking to the bottom of my pans, but I think I needed to grease and flour the pan a little more evenly and let the cake cool completely before trying to remove it. I had a hard time getting my frosting to thicken up even after cooking it on the stove top for 30 min and adding cornstarch. It got a little better once the coconut was in it and was placed in the fridge and I added some extra coconut. Very tasty! Next time I might try using more cornstarch from the very begining. All in all it was a hit and I will be making this again! Easy recipe though it does take some time, but well worth it.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
The family absolutely loved this recipe!! We will certainly be making this again. I somehow made it thicker than the recipe called for but it worked out just as good because we ate it with chips and added sour cream. Very yummy. Mmm

Jambalaya Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This was a great recipe! I cut it down to make 8 servings and we had plenty! I gave this recipe 4 stars because I think it needed something more than just the sausage. The second time I made it I added some baked chicken and that was just perfect. Next time I'll add chicken and some shrimp too! Yum! Husband and family loved this recipe.

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
This was good. The family all raved about it, doubled the recipe for us and 4 kids, it worked out well. Next time will add mushrooms and olives and omit the green pepper per family preference but it was eaten up quickly! Thank you for sharing.

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
Very delicious recipe as is. Next time I may try red pepper flakes or something to add a little extra pep, though I may just leave as is. It was all eaten up that night. We used our home jarred alaska salmon and even the picky eater in the family had to agree it was pretty good. Thank you for sharing!

Sweet and Sour Meatballs II

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
This was very delicious! The sweet and sour sauce is the best I've had and will use it for other recipes as well. I chopped the onion very fine and still had a little crumbling problem but I found making the meatballs by hand helped them stay together better. Very yummy and I have already made several times. Served over eggnoodles. Thank you!

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
This got rave reviews from a family gathering. Even our picky eater ate it. We added some sauteed onions and celery and I cut down on the amount of butter for the topping because it seemed like a lot. Besides that and adding a bit of oregano and garlic powder, I did just as the recipe said and it was great. This has already been made twice and will be a favorite! Thank you.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
This was quite good. I used precut stew meat which came out very tender and tasty. Also, I sauteed the onions and mushrooms prior to adding it to the ground beef, it seems liked there was a lot of butter but it was pretty tasty. Didn't have white wine so that got left out and had to use instant potatoes to thicken it which actually worked really well. Kids enjoyed this. Next time will add garlic powder and extra pepper. Will make again, thank you!

Orange Cream Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
We all love this recipe! The kids are always exited to make this. I drain the fruit really well and only use about half of the sauce so it's a little thicker. We like to add half a bag of shredded coconut and marichino cherries. Sometimes I use the marichino cherry juice instead of orange juice just to mix things up now and then. No matter what, this is a great recipe just as is. Thank you.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
This a great chili, one I will certainly be making again. It got rave reviews and the kids ate it up. Per family tastes I added extra spices and used a orange pepper instead of a green. I didn't have celery but will add it next time. Thankyou for sharing this. :)

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
This was a good recipe and I'll try making it again soon. I used half the sugar which seemed like a lot, but then I had tart apples and they could have used it, I also added some cinnamon to the oatmeal mixture. It baked like a charm and smelled so good. Next time I won't use such tart apples, but that was my own mistake. A great recipe.
